View Full Version : 48RE Transmission range sensor pinout

I'm curious as to what the connector pin-out is for the range sensor on the 48RE. The pin-out that I have only shows the following values:

Pin
1 Trans Range Sensor Electronic cluster 5 volt supply
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 Trans Range Sensor Electronic cluster 5 volt supply
6 Park/neutral position switch sense

The connector on the transmission has 5 pins, so I am hoping someone can tell me what the remaining pins go to. I'm hoping they are outputs for all the gears.

The swith is multiplexed and will not have individival wires for each gear, the voltage is changes on pin 5, (this is just an example not real numbers) park 4.7v, reverse 4.1v, neutral 3.6, Drive 3.0v . I hope that helps you with what your doing

Is it multiplexed? Or just a good old voltage divider?

Well they say it is multiplexed in the description but that is what it looks like to me too

My friend has a 48RE behind a 12 valve, in his K5 Blazer. So I am just wiring it up, but I wanted to use the factory sensor, if I could. Also, I'm planning on using the range sensor to output to a gear indicator on the dash.

sounds like alot of work but if you can get it to work for you that would be very cool
