it is a gold colored looks to be anodized aluminun case with no markings on it other than super chips. i bought the truck from a auction and have no history on it. it seems to be a pretty strong tune, smokes pretty good when you hit it down low. how can i find out what i have?

I assume this chip you speek of is connected directly to the computer under the dash? Bd used to sell a gold chip, and I'm pretty sure that it is originally made by ssomeone else.
Those chips are calibrated according to the code in the computer. Might still be a hex code ID sticker on the drivers side door jam with code on it. Something like four letters and a number..... for example xle4 It is hard to id those because of the wide range of calibrations used per hex code.

BD did make one like that but it usually had a BD sticker on it. Also Superchips made a Gold and Blue chip. The Gold chip I believe was an 85 hp chip. Not to bad for its day. I have driven one and was impressed for what it was.

Its one of those things, The products are out there to blow that thing out of the water. It was a great chip in its day. It was the begining. It will work good for a daily driver but I personally like reaching over and turning the nob to a different setting.

Keep the chip, and add a module. Edge w/Additude is a good choice.
