Wanting to go with blue leds in the cab of my 04 Ford is there a way to put blue leds in the dash so the gauge cluster n a/c panel is blue rather than the stock green?

I know of a guy that did it on a 2nd gen dodge. IDK about fords. Check out this site, they may have what you need.

I've done it on mine. You can kinda see it here in my dodge.

The easy way out is a Nu Image gauge face overlay. I used a silver one and got the matching ac panel.

They all look sweet, I like the stock gauges with a color change. Now all I need to do is buy a truck

Dig into the gauge cluster and see what type of bulb the OEM put in there. I don't know what it is for Fords but on the Dodges they are 194 style bulbs. After you find out the bulb style, you can go to a website like superbrightleds.com and do an interchange.

Where did you get new needles? I don't like the pink that the stock needles turn.

Sylvania's website (http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm (http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/)) says superduties use 194 bulbs, so a lot will interchange. That's the same size I used in my dodge. They are pretty cheap from Super Bright LEDs (http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fmini-wedge.html) so you aren't at a big loss if they don't work.

It looks like it takes some 194s and some 37s so make sure to order a few of both. Maybe some ford guys can chime in with a bulb count, that would really help more than the dodge guys saying they can do it :poke:

I used the Wled-xHP in my dodge and the Twist lock bases from superbrightleds. The xHP has a 120* beam. I was originally using the WLED-x5 with the 220* Beam but oddly enough they didn't light as well or as evenly as the xHP. Since that was on a Dodge and not a Ford YMMV.

Yea, I messed up and ordered 35* instead of 90 or higher, its not as bad in real life looking straight at the gauges

So if I want to change the color of my dash to white to match my sport comp 2 guages I just need to put a different bulb in?

cumminsman315
10-27-2011, 12:35 PM
Basically, except the bulbs in your truck are white, not green.... The gauge face, heater controls, and headlight switch have a green tint on them

Its alot easier to get a different color bulb bright enough to overpower the green (such as the blue leds)

White would take a lot of time IMO

I wonder if you can peel the green film off of the surfaces?

I believe so, the gauges would be easy, but the headlight switch and heater controls would be difficult if possible

i have an 07 cummins i changed all my lights to red, even with the green film on the back never affected the color and the odometer on the dash cannot be changed therefore if you can get a colored film thats the only way to change those colors. superbrightleds.com is the place theyre very good with bulbs about anything you need they have them. ive already converted tag lights 3rd brake, reverse lights for now but i plan on doing more. simple as pulling your cluster out and changing the bulbs ill post up a picture

you cant peel it off but what ive used on a buddy of mines was MEK methyl ethyl ketone, metal can at a hardware store like paint stripper but stronger and it whipes the green right off. if not use paint thinner and like 600 grit sandpaper on the back
