Sorry to hear this to a bunch of great guys.

Sad to say its more than likely somone you know or they know your operation well. A local up here just had his shop busted into took the race car 75K and ALL of his tools 40K. They even used his race trailer 15K and had to load it up from the garage to the trailer. Someone knew he was out of town and did this during the day. Insurance only covered half. I just went thru my insurance and raised my coverages and list of all assets. Cost went up but dam if chit like this can put you out of biz real quick.

I invested in a complete door and motion security with central dispath fire etc. Also a Dedicated Micros DVR video system huge data storage almost 1 month with 30 cameras. Never had a real big problem everyone knows its here LOL. It helped prosacute several kids breaking into my shop trucks parked outside.

Real sorry for your loss Bean hope your insurance covers your chit. Hope them guys get whats coming to them. Eye for an Eye. See ya on the 10th.

Ya this has been a REALLY bad day. They broke into customers trucks and ripped out dashes, gauges, radios, cut wires, stole engine parts off a Suped up Honda that was outside (under a security light) unbolted turbo from my drag truck and pullin truck and wiped out the shelves in the show room. Even took a custom header I made for the pullin truck that would not work on any other truck anywhere. I will try and post pictures of it for everyone to keep and eye out for. I dont even have enough tools left in my box to work on anything and pretty much wiped out a couple other boxes too.

Got my whole business screwed at the moment.

Those pricks must have been there for a while, or there was a lot of them! I can't believe they took all that. WTF would they want custom parts that people can track? Luckily for you it seems like they aren't very smart and hopefully that little factoid will lead to them getting caught one way or another. Have you called your local tool guys to see if they can get you enough to get you back in the shop? I feel for you man, a few years ago the space I rented got hit and I was lucky that the neighbor was a retired police officer and heard the thugs. He followed them to where they hid the stuff and then called the law. It still took a week to get my stuff back because of the system. I wish you luck with it and hope justice is served to those thieves!

Ya hopefully the custom stuff will pop up.

been in touch with tool guys trying to get lists of what we have bought from them for inventory.

Niegbor heard something so she got up and checked at 1:00 am and saw a dark dually flatbed diesel headed out the driveway. that lead may really help us out.

Thanx for the offer, Matt Kelly is already sending down a scanner for me to borrow. I think we have rounded up enough hand tools to squeek by but as of right now I dont have any 1/2" tq wrenches and alot of speciatly sockets that may get us in a pinch before long.

I was so screwed up today it was hard for me to just get a grasp on what I needed right away to keep doing work.

This exactly. They have to know you some how to know what to go for and such..

Good luck with the finding of the parts and those scum bags.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I would call all the tool trucks and pawn shops in your area. Let them know so if these Tards are dumb enough to try and sell the tools in big lots. I had some stuff stolen out of my box a few years back. I knew who did it but didn't catch them in the act. The service manager told me "If you touch him your fired." Its almost worse knowing who did it and having to look them in the face while wanting to smash it in at the same time.

Sorry to hear that - sux when thieves steal your livelihood!
Hope all consequences (both good & bad as applicable) happen to everyone involved.

We were burglarized this past weekend - criminals didn't get away with much more than a shot-up vehicle & a ride in the meat wagon... LEOs were like "DAYUM - next time we respond to a 'shots-fired' at LazarSmith we'll bring a bigger number set for the shell casings..." :aiwebs_016:

Were you there or something when they tried to rob you?

XLR8R
11-28-2011, 09:20 AM
YES - otherwise everything would likely be gone... tools, parts, equipment, machinery, all our Super Stock stuff, etc.

The "gang of four" had a grinder with a cut-off wheel & a drill in the trunk, a pair of police scanners to check response time and the stupidity to steal from us again.

I hate to hear that someone attempted to burglarize you, but glad that you made sure that justice was served. I hate that everyone has been having this lately, even though I think my tools and such are safe, it just goes to show you that you never know.
