Anyone know if the stock wastegate on a 03 is adjustable. Or do I need to buy a new one. Also what are the pros and cons of adjusting it.

Yes it is adjustable, what are you running for boost now? Anything over 26psi isnt going to help you go faster on a stock turbo.

Yes, it is adjustable but be careful as I have heard that if you get too agressive the rod can snap.

Why do you want to adjust it? How much boost are you seeing now?

I am only pushing 17.9 PSI without my superchip. I am pushing 21.5 with the chip. I am looking for at least 20 without chip and 25 with the chip.

My real question though is if I turn it up will I be looking for a bad case of shelled turbine or something along the lines of bad news and big money.

20 without the chip might be a little high but your should be in the 23-24 range with your chip. Check the up pipes first.

If you dont go over 26psi youll be fine, adjust it away, just look at it youll know how its done just by looking at. You pull the clip out that connects the wastegate actuator rod to the wastegate. Then just turn it to tighten it.

Look for soot around the up-pipes connection where it goes by the turbo.

Thanks Ill do that. I just went and looked at it. I just think that the factory setting was causing it to open prematuerly and it wasnt building enough boost. I am going to upgrade to a ceramic BB when I get the chance.

It's not the turbo that is causing it to open prematurely it's the wastegate. The stock unit is not designed to be used at higher levels and will sometimes start opening real early like 5-10 lbs. On my old setup I ran a Banks Bighead (One of the few Banks products that is worth a ....) and it is easily adjustable with a much higher spring pressure as well. JMHO..

I am thinking that I just should go ahead and upgrade then. Instead of shelling a perfectly good turbo. I have a friend that says that Banks Big Head is really good. have you ever been to the BDpower website. Its diesel performance.com. They have some cool stuff there. I think Ill just get their wastegate and blowoff valve kits. Then get a BB kit. Check out their website though. I have one of their digital X-monitors and I love it. It also keeps me from screwing anything up. Thanks for the Advice though
