Just got back from the dealership. Engine light has been going on and off for about a week. The code says it is a turbo boost problem. They are pretty sure it is flash related but have to call Cummins on Monday to find out for sure. Anyone else had this problem on the 6.7?

No problems at all so far. Good luck with yours.

The mechanic told me at the dealership that mine was the fourth truck this week to come in showing the same code. He also told me that these new engines came out and they had no training on them and don't even know how to work on them. Makes you feel real confident about your dealer. lol

Na na I say...I am personal friends with my Darge diesel mechanic and he has had extensive training on the 6.7L. Several different training sessions. Three that lasted 2 weeks each and several 2-3 day training sessions. Remember it is VERY similiar to the 5.9L wite the addition of EGR and DPF.

In time we will all know the good/bad of the 6.7L, how to defeat the emissions crap, and how to make great hp and mega trq with this engine....but again I say in time.

They finally told me today that Cummins told them that the EGR valve and tube was clogged with soot. The first time the light came on, it only had 2600 miles and it only has 4500 on it now. If this happens every 2500 miles, it will stay in the shop all the time. I normally put 900-1000 miles per week on my truck so every 2 weeks I will have to clean the egr. That sucks.

Whats the maximum boost on a 6.7?

With the pedal to the floor it runs about 25-30 psi. I have seen it hit 35 at a shift spike.

It long be long before someone will be blocking off the egr like the Fords guys did.

a certain unnamed performance company (not local drop shipper that plays with trucks, an actual company that writes software and produces power modules) that is local to our club/group of guys did an EGR block off 2 weeks ago on his 6.7 and then put a water/meth kit on it with a huge 3 gallon tank...no problems with it and the power gain was substantial.

if i hear anything negative i will remember to write back

So what were the results long term?

wow old thread!!!! anyway egr block helps with fuel economy and does not let the soot accumulate in your engine. Lots of people have done it with good results, I would get a DTC light about once a week for turbo boost low before I did it since then I have never seen that light and my oil comes out a lot cleaner
