Ive came across a tractor, its a 4020 john deere stright sheet metal, good tires, THE ONLY PROBLEM this tractor has is....... the owner ran the transmiaaon out of oil. :badidea: it can be bought for almost zero dollars, but im wondering how much its going to cost to rebuild the entir transmisson or where there is a good place to find a used one. ive looked all over the internet and found that one website sells all the parts to rebuild it for about $10,600+ bearings and seals thats power shift pacs. new shafts. i cant afford to rebuild thr trans if its going to cost that much, im wanting it to build a puller out of.

What kind of a puller are you wanting to turn it into? You may check with Worthington Ag Parts in Sikeston, MO. I called them about some 5020 parts a few weeks ago and they had some tractors they were selling whole rearend cases as a swap. A good complete rearend and trans for your junk one. Asked me $3500 for the 5020. I'd guess a Powershift would be higher if hey even had one. May look into that though. There are some others on here that could give you better advice on this for the powershift portion.

around here we have a 8500 pound "hot farm" class that uses a 2.55 in turbo. thats what im shooting for, it has no speed limit and no govoner rule so im hopeing for a 5000rpm high side of road gear.

Powershift or syncro? Mid south tractor parts in Decatur, AL had an entire rear end and transmission from a syncro that I talked to them about for $2500.

Try Brad Walk, he always has Deere stuff around, if not he most likely knows where one is at, or will buy it from you for parts maybe. 217-246-3445

At 8500 lbs I would shy away from the 460/560 tractors, I would want to go no more than 6500 lbs with them. If IH is the way you want to go look for an old 706 gas and install a DT motor in it, and then you would be set for the hot farm class.

I just got an email from my nieghbor 3 mile north. They have their 4020 for sale. I'll find out what year and info if you like. Comes with detachable loader and dozer blade. Don't know price yet.

Lemma know if you are interested.

His is a 1968 4020 just like mine. I'm assuming it is a synchro shift. Interested?

As you can see in my pic, ive already got one international. lol love it to death too but theres just too many IH in that class were all ready for some diff. colors to be thrown in.
