Anyone running one on an 97' JD 8400, if so what are you seeing stock (pre or post) Turbo. The tractor in question was stock but added a TS box recently and I'm looking for what I expect to see.

Thanks, Jim

where is your gauge probe at, and what kind of numbers are you seeing?

I do not run one, but I am curious. And what kind of work ya doing with it?

It's actually not mine but a farm family I help from time to time. I don't have one installed yet so no numbers to report. The last time I rode in it (pre-box) it was pulling a 7 shank subsoiler 16 inches deep, after the box he told me it was a totally different tractor!

That tractor shouldnt need a box on it. Does it have high hours? I just had one come in that would stall when shifting and it turned out to be barrels and plungers in pump. Still made 240 hp on the dyno with bad plungers (factory rating 225 hp). Had the pump rebuilt by northwest fuel injection and it made 275 at rated, but I could pull it down to 315. Those 8.1 blocks season in really well and make some good power.

The 8400 was a little short on power verses the 8410 so he wanted to add a box for a bump. It has 3400 hrs or so on it, the baseline was 235 PTO at 1000 RPM, 10% went to 255, 20% to 275 and 30% to 285........then they pulled it down to 750 and it went to 385......sounded good.

Thats about the same hours the one I did had on it. If it stays running good when changing direction and doesnt idle erratically everything should be a-ok. Sounds like that box gets it where it needs to be, and a lot cheaper than a new 8R tractor!!

Yep, a 100K verses 200K! Driving down to Texas the other day I stopped off and sat in an 8235R....what a sweet ride. Today I was working on a 10K + hours 4450.....light years apart!
