converting to sport head lamps on a 2nd gen

thinking about converting 2nd gen ram to sport headlights. wondering to those that have done it what was all involved. i know ill have to get a brite box from genos, but as far as the lights were there any modifcations done to get them to fit? also wheres a good place to pick up a set of sport model headlights?

T he brite box its a waste of money. Buy the sport relay harnesses from LMC truck.
If the truck is older than a 98 you will have to cut the fenders for the additional bulbs to clear.

Why not go with HID's? It's well worth the swap

Hids are almost too bright. Im looking up that harness now.

Do a true retro fit with projectors like HIDs were designed to be ran, and they wont be "too bright". The Retro Fit Source has a kit for the 9004 bulbs and is a double filament HID. If your willing to spend the extra money to do the Sport Conversion, by the time you get it done its not much more to do the HID retro fit. Just my .02.

You need different housings. Just some ebay ones would work with a clear lens. Cause you open em up anyway to mount the projector. And you only need a housing with a single bulb for double filament. And the kit comes with silicone to seal the housing back up. They have all kinds of pictures on their website. Or you can google image search Retro Fit Kit Dodge Ram.

Really easy change and by far brighter than the old ones. The only thing that needs improvement is the high beams. I will be doing a write up soon.

Are you using a projector with the stock housing, or putting the HID straight into the halogen housing?

I guess I don't see the point of putting an HID in a Halogen reflective housing? All that does is scatter the light source of the bulb. That's what Projectors were designed for, to collect the light source of the HID Bulb and "project" it to the designated area.

This will be interesting to see when finished. I'd like to see the outcome, If it works well its not a bad idea.

Just get stock sport housings off Ebay, get the wiring kit with relays or wire in your own, like i did. Housings fit quick and easy! 200% more light than stock headlights. Original lights were like candles and the low beams were aimed too low and the hi beams were aimed too high. I can't imagine anyone needing more light than the sport headlights will give ya!

Completely and totally false. It may not glare in other drivers line of sight, but you have no control over where the light goes with an hid in a halogen housing.

Not to derail here but do they make an aftermarket sport head light? I've been wanting to get smoked lenses and hids for mine but just cant seam to find anything for sport headlight trucks :poke:

Check out LMC truck. TYC makes a set i think.

I think you should do some more research on how HIDs work. And the difference between HID bulbs and standard Halogen bulbs.

Concave lens vs Convex reflector. Again adding a bulb cover and painting the non cut reflector should eliminate the scatter that one would get by just adding HID. I will be the first one to admit if it does not work.
