Press release:
The Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series (BOB Series) is proud to announce that they have secured a deal with NBC Sports to televise 20 television shows in 2014. “For the first time ever, pulling fans across the nation and beyond will get to see for themselves what the BOB Series is all about,” said BOB Series CEO Tom McConnell. “This is the first time in broadcast history that a regional pulling series has ever received so much coverage, and plans are to highlight all the classes that the BOB Series offers.”

NBC Sports is one of the largest cable and satellite networks in the United States, reaching into to over 85 million households. By the time the BOB Series shows air in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2014, NBC Sports should be in nearly 100 million households. The growth is due in part to NBC Sports airing of NASCAR.

Howes Lubricator, the title sponsor of the BOB Series, is presenting the television shows. “Howes has gotten involved with the BOB Series in a big way, and this shows how much dedication Howes has to the sport of pulling,” said McConnell. “Howes will be producing commercials promoting their product line, as well as showcasing the sport of pulling.”

One of the reasons for the choice of NBC Sports is to promote the classes that the BOB Series offers. Light Limited Super Stock, Diesel Trucks, Light Pro Stocks, Super Farms, Limited Pro Stocks, Hot Farm, Pro Farm, Modified 4WD Trucks, Super Stock 2WD Trucks, Semis, and all the BOB Classes are popular classes not just in the BOB Series, but nationwide. “We felt it was time to show to the world that there are other pulling classes, and if you look at the crowds, the newest events across the nation are running similar classes that the BOB Series offers, so these television shows will show to the world just how many categories of pulling there is,” said McConnell.

Tom McConnell is a joke. He will screw this up if its even true and not some bs attempt to get more vehicles to run his events

It would be a hoot to see 10+ classes of pulling condensed into what, 18 minutes of air time in a 30 minute TV show?

You would think. Ask Tom how ATPA worked out. With all the sponsors ATPA had and where the end of year points money went when he decided to close the doors!

always wondered what happened to pulling. I grew up in the 80's and followed the local ATPA pulling series every weekend in the summer, watched it on TNN, and it was huge. then in the early 90's it fell off. Last few years there has been a bit of a resurgence in the local scene with 6 events in ALberta. Do guys out your way Disturbed run dual purpose rigs? 1320 and 300

I think coverage is a great thing and hope to see more mainstreaming of this and let the sport grow even more.
