He wants to leave it relatively stock aside from a intake and exhaust.
I know dodge and what works for them.
Any input would be appreciated:beer:

Intake and exhaust, waste of money and time. Leave it stock or delete it and run a tuner.

I hated the stock tip, so I switched to an mbrp filter back. Looked better, but no change in sound whatsoever.

Nasty, what do u like about the ford vs the ram? I'm prob going to sell my mega and go with a new(er) Platinum.
Are the transmissions worth an F? I just hate adding a little fun power and all of a sudden ya need an 6k dollar tranny.

Then get a Ford. The stock trans will hold up to 600+

That sentence does make sense "up to 600+" and too bad there rods won't hold "up to 600+" :Cheer:

What will it hold up to? A lot? 600+? Ahh, ok... so you're saying it'll hold up to 600+?

The rods will certainly hold more than 600 if you don't murder them with excessive bottom end torque.

600 on a stock turbo? So long conrods... 650 on a 66/74? At your service!

Don't even need to delete it really. That's only worth about another 20hp. My buddy has a 2012 bone stock other than a MiniMaxx. He gets 20mpg and I ran a 14.08 in it. CrewCab King Ranch 4x4. If it were me personally I'd just tune it and be done. Of course, I've said that about my last three trucks too. LOL

Since it's staying stockish I would assume it would remain with the stock turbo on it. But I do know that if you move the power curve up a bit its easier on rods, just like the dmax guys do to make their rods last.

if left stockish (IE, tune/intake/exhaust) I wouldn't worry a bit about the rods... the stock fuel system won't make enough power to hurt the truck unless you're just flat out trying to kill it

dual pumps on a stock turbo is a recipe for a window'd block IMO

I kinda question the rods not holding up after seeing H&S dump a ton of nitrous in their breaking point truck. The cylinder pressures had to have been extremely high and no windowed block. Who did the initial testing that stated 550-600 and you need $2300 rods? With some of the MCC tuning out there 550 is a common street driven truck these days.

Is there any real difference between 12, 13, and 14 models?
I will be posting my Mega Cab up for sale this week and will start my search.

Who is putting down an honest 550 tune-only? I'm not talking ego stroking dynos like the guys reporting 600+ on tune-only 6.4's.

My 10klb service truck will stomp a ccsb 6.7 with Matt's tunes

I would steer clear of 11's myself. I have friends with awesome trouble-free 11's, but for little price difference, you're in a 12.

13+ have some interior upgrades, but for the most part they're all the same 11-14. 11/12 make a little more power than 13/14 for whatever reason

6.7's put down about 450ish in the tuner only category, although they seem to be getting a little better.

"Tuner only" is this custom tunes or H&S?
Is there any tranny tuning required for the 450hp ish tunes?
I'm really happy with the power of my 6.7 Cummins with just deletes and an AutoCal but i ended up having to put a $6k dollar tranny in it.
I dont tow heavy or hot rod it either, its my dd/highway *****.
I'm looking to stay away from the Ram this go around and hopefully find something as dependable (engine) with a better trans.

That's H&S. Nope, stock trans will be perfectly fine.

If you can get a H&S tuner they offer trans tuning... I have it in my 6.7 and it is much better than stock. It shifts firm and quick.

Is the H&S tunes a smokey hot mess?
I had a mm on my 08' cummins like four years ago and hated it. Sure it pulled like a sob, but egt's, smoke, and my rail popping off ever so often was enough to sell it fast.
I like smooth linear power that doesn't make me look like an oraler at every intersection or hill i come too.

No a small puff and than a light haze if you really get after it. EGT's are low in these 6.7's.

Lol..badass, thanks!
Now how does the exhaust brake work on these in comparison to the Dodge? I dont tow a lot, i like to use mine in heavy traffic swapping lanes and stuff. When i do tow I absolutely love it, especially in the tow haul mode.

Don't notice it a lot. Haven't towed much with mine though.

I had a dodge, bought an '11 ford and honestly I couldn't be happier. Rides good, quiet, runs great (especially with a tune). 16.5-19mpg (on paper) depending on what I'm doing. Buddy was never a ford fan and always drank the Chebby kool-aid. Drove mine a few times and bought one too. I can usually find something I don't like about most things. I have yet to find something I don't like about this truck. Well other than the weight. Don't think for a second it's a good idea to drive off road if it is even slightly wet. Been on the end of a chain more than once.

I'm not real brand loyal with cars/pickups. So I'm not just a ford cheerleader, my dodge was a cummins wrapped in a turd and I knew that when I bought it new.

Same as the others. Vanes close on charger, just not as noticeable as the Dodge and I believe may only work on tow/haul.

Thanks a lot fellers..
I'll be looking for a Platinum or fully loaded Lariat here in a month or so.
I have been seeing lots of new 13 and 14's still. Maybe i can find me a killer deal on one thats been on a lot for over a year. Seems Ford does that a lot.

i came from a common rail 5.9 to this and its totally different and...

Im not sure what H&S users are running. But the tuning I'm running on my 6.7 which are custom tunes from Rudy's on an SCT, have been tested on a near identical truck have made 520-530hp runs with a delete, their tuning, and intake.

I watched guys at II's dyno day this last month run over 500rwhp with an H&S and a delete. I know that my truck isn't a 550+ truck. But it does feel over 500 to the wheels in comparison to my common rail 5.9 that was pretty well built and ran numerous 13.5 second passes with a manual trans.

Have you run the 6.7 at the track yet? I'd be curious to see what it traps compared to its weight. The delete would add about 20-30rwhp. Say maybe 10rwhp for the intake? So another 50ish rwhp with custom tuning vs the H&S box tune could be possible I suppose.

I'm still waiting to see more than one mention of 520-530dyno runs... and 520 is a pretty far cry from 550 IMO

and again... is that just one guy on a generous dyno?

I've seen guys posting up that their 6.4 did 600+ on canned H&S tunes, CAI, and exhaust... real world is more like 560-580

I haven't ran it at the track. I was planning on running it on the dyno at Industrial Injection but the SCT didn't arrive in time for the dyno day. I'm curious to see how it runs also.

Rudy's is claiming i'll see 20-40hp more than the H&S canned tuning and gave it a 200hp claim instead of the 150 from H&S. I'm much happier with it as it's smoother tuning and does definitely provide more power. The turbo would clear the smoke at full boost in my H&S, and this tuning I still have a steady haze at full boost.

I really need to get it on a dyno and also to the track to see if the claims are true.

Where has it been tested that 500hp is the limit of the stock pump? I keep hearing that but then see trucks dyno over 500 with a stock pump. Just like the rods need to be upgraded at 550-600. II has a 6.7 with compounds that runs stock rods and is supposedly around 600+ horsepower.
