Been looking at the aftermarket compresser wheels and just want to know what it takes to install one and does the turbo have to be rebalanced
It is a 2001 7.3 stock turbo

ive bought my wheel but have not put it in yet. seen the looks scary to do. i bought the wicked wheel and they said you do not have to rebalance the wheel comes balanced from them so now i just got to build up the courage to tear mine apart. let me know if you get one and install it id like to know how hard it was

It isn't hard at all. You just need to take your time... you can take the turbo out or leave it in.... it is not necessary to rebalance the turbo... the wheel should already be balanced from the factory.... I didn't even remove the turbo when I did mine... But probably the most important is spraying everything down with penetrating oil the day before and let it soak in... The down pipe and up pipes(if you take the turbo out) can be hard to get off....so hose them down with that penetrating oil...

But here are a couple different directions...

i never touched a turbo in my life and did it with simple hand tools.. I pulled the turbo to add new orings while i was at it. if you pull the turbo plan on a afternoon . otherwise it isnt that bad.

is it a better idea while you are messing with the turbo to go ahead and take it off and replace all the o rings or whatever there is in there or if its not leaking just leave it on and install the wheel. my truck has 113,500 miles on but havent seen any leaking.thanks
