So I might be buying my first tractor. 8650 with the a range not working. 1000 bucks. I know these tractors have a history of problems when getting used hard, but I know for sure this tractor won't break a sweat pulling dads drag or roller back home. Which is all it will be used for. I know the guy who has owned it for the past 15 years and loved it. But being a larger farmer he just parked it and bought a new one right after the transmission problem erupted.
I will repeat it.. 1000 bucks. I could probably dang near get scrap out of it.

If the motor was decent I would buy it for that, and send the rest to the boneyard.

8650's are a tad better than its lemon predecessor the 8630, either way I'd still back away. You'll sink lots of money into that tractor.

I don't plan on sinking money into it. If the transmission goes the rest of the way i was going to junk it. Lol its got good tires, and still weighs 29000. If i cant get my money back out as scrap something is wrong. The guy says everything works including the ac. Just a range stopped working. I havent known anybody that use a range anyway.

We had one with a range gone and ran it years that way. I did eventually overhaul the trans and it is a huge job. Not likely much in parts just the time to do it.

For 1000 bucks I'd have that in my yard in no time!

I'd get that just to mow my 3/4 acre yard lol. Cheaper than most riders these days, and it would last 5 years on a tank of fuel.

Where's it at? It's not even my color, but I'll have a truck there in the morning for $1000

Jonathan, buy it. If you want to get rid of it, Travis will buy it from you for probably twice what you bought it for and get it fixed. You know he's a sucker for Green paint and he has the connections at almost every green paint distributor in the state. :D

Travis. My neighbor 3 miles north, Travis. Ex-Deere salesman, bales a million hay bales a year, Travis. And don't be callin' me to haul it. I ain't putting #29,000 on my trailer. ;)
I'll text ya his number. Seriously, you should call him and talk to him about it. There ain't a green bolt he don't know anything about in some form or fashion.
