I was going to post an update to the older thread regarding my Dodge Rampage H/DT entry, but the thread has been closed (I guess it got too old).

Anyway, I'm packing the trailer and heading East to Ohio this weekend, to run with the ECTA at The Ohio Mile.

A couple of pics taken this past weekend, on a shakedown cruise around the neighborhood. The good news is that I pretty well fogged the whole area for mosquitos.

If you are going to be in the Wilmington, OH area this weekend, stop by and say hello.

Yeahhhh, VW Power! I don't know why all these guys are messing with Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstrokes. VW is where it's at.

Sorry for the delay in responding, guys. My first day back was kind of hectic, but I'm getting pulled back together now.

The Ohio Mile was a fantastic event, from the venue, to the people, to the whole atmosphere.

Long story short, I am the new ECTA recordholder in H/DT, with a speed of 123.28something. That was set Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, I packed the intercooler tank full of ice, set the boost on "Kill", and was looking for 125 mph.

There was a pretty strong headwind on Sunday (probably around 15 mph), and storms were moving in. I made 1 pass on Sunday (which is shown in the Youtube link below) at 122.xxx mph. That's all she had to give with the current setup.

Here's a peek at the video.

Did you ever put it on a dyno yet? Refresh us on your current combo, boost, egt during runs, etc.

I did run it on a dyno last fall. It's a 1.5L VW, 167 HP, 238 ft-lbs of torque.

It's a 1.6 turbo block, 1.5 rotating assembly, 1.9L AAZ cylinder head, and a Garrett GT2056 turbo. VW 4-speed trans, with a .71:1 overdrive in 4th.

Just a bit more than 30 psi at full boost. On full boost, EGT's maxxed out around 1300F.

The pump was built by Dieselmeken AB in Sweden. He is arguably the best Bosch pump guy on the planet.

Just added it to my bucket list. :lolly: I've actually driven down the road that runs parallel to the runway during an event last year. You're only a hundred feet or so away while they're making their runs.

Yeah, the road that runs parallel to the strip is between the pits and the track. To get to the pits, you cross over the bridge that the road passes under.

I will be on the salt at SpeedWeek. Planning to arrive on the 8th, and have a room booked through until the 15th.

Cool, our plan is to be there on the 7th, and we'll be camping ~halfway between the bend and the end of the road. Should be pitted at the 4 mile exit. See you there!!

We had a fantastic time at World of Speed, managing to put the Rampage into impound and back up new records (twice). The old record was 105.8mph.

Our first 2 runs resulted in a new record of 130.2 mph.

Then, we took it back to the pits, did a little wrenching, and bumped our own record up to 135.003 mph.

Bonneville is an experience like none other. As hot rodders, this is one of those "Mecca of Speed" locations.

Got a break down or list for all the classes with descriptions?

I really want to build something to do this with and I would like to use my 93 Ford F150 as a start for the project. Whether it will be diesel or not I'm not sure but I would like to build something. Wilmington is only 25 minutes from my home town in Ohio...

Here's a link to the ECTA (East Coast Timing Association) land speed racing page.

I know that Ohio isn't quite East Coast, but they carried the name when the moved from Maxton.

As far as updates on my truck, I'm going with a bigger injection pump and turbo for the 1.5L engine, and putting together an engine for the next higher class (2 liters). We will run the "enhanced" 1.5L at Ohio in June.
