9500 hrs, needs tires, has loader. Any idea what it's worth?

Depending on the condition, a lot.

It seems like the 40 and 50 series tractors are almost increasing in value.

It's actually in decent shape. Fired right up. Definitely needs tires. Didn't white smoke on start up. One broken mirror some, faded paint. Pump hasn't been touched. Seats a little worn.

Ballpark figure? 5,000, 10,000, 15,000?

Faded paint and needs tires... 20-25 I'd guess.

I would think 15k is a little cheap.

$15K is probably closer if it needs rubber. Unless you want the cheapest thing you can find, Rubber will cost close to $3000.

Loader doesn't help it at all unless you need it.

Really never thought it would be worth that ! Dang! Thank you.

It's green dude.........what loader is on it would make a difference also. I wouldn't pay more than 15 for it with the hours and tires. Be better off getting like a 2750 or so

Also is it a powershift or quad range?

18 to 22 or so honestly I'm my area. I buy and sell tractors occasionally, sold that last 44 I had for 18 needed tires, full cab recon, pretty faded but straight. Power shift with 8500 hours. Just my $.02

Dunno. How to tell?

8 forward gears in a row no clutch to shift 1-8. Quad is A-D shifter with a 1-4 shifter two levers and clutch to change A-D ranges...

TheSilverBullet

Power shift will be a single stick with 8 forward speeds and 4 reverse.
Quad range will have two sticks with one having ranges ABCD and the other stick will have 1-4 and 1-2 reverse speeds.

4440s bring a lot because they are a well sized tractor with a 540 pto. Machinery is high right now I wouldn't pay much more than that. A lot of them are really showing there age also Colton that thing weighs probably 14k plus for hauling purposes.

I've been wanting one for a planting tractor but the price of them I can get into a high hour 7k series deere for 10k more and it's more comfortable and user friendly but with the downfall of electronics.

Got any more questions give me a ring

I'm slow as hell too lol... I grew up on a 4440 power shift, that and 3 4020 power shifts, I just so happened to be looking when he posted his question. :hehe:

I got a picture around somewhere of our 44 and 7000 12row best planter tractor ever made.

We planted with a 72 4020 for years. We've had all 20 series 2520 4020 4320 4620 etc. But doesn't hold a candle to our 4640 a lot of guys hate that 8 speed ps but I love it. I'd really like a 4240 or 4440 ps. I plant with a 6 but have been looking at 12 rows tho. Our 4640 is straight as a pin and has 5500 hours if you know of someone.

I got a line on a 4020 console power shift 722 original hours on it that I'm buying to keep, I have a week spot for 20 series deeres. 2520 diesel PS is next on my to find list. How much you want for your 46?...

I've been doing a little digging again into tractors for some undisclosed reasons and these things are like the second gen dodges of the tractor world. Unreal.

Yeah you have that right. Almost any Deere from 20 40 50 55 series are worth gold, 30 series were kinda the step child or transitional series, good tractors but had there problems....

The early 30's for sure!!!! That later ones actually aren't bad for cheap HP.... I'll still take my 4020 power shift with a hx35/40 on it any day over an early 4430.....

Collectors item is true, but to me I won't be able to not use it. Lol. It the original owners son that has it now, bought new along with a bwa disk and 694an planter. All three pieces are sitting in a shed on blocks, the tractor gets ran a couple times a year a good waxing and it'll be new and the planter looks new.

Our old 2520 diesel has 2800 hours. It's a synchro range. I haven't decided if I'm going to replace the 4620 or 4640. Really want to get into a 7600-7800

Must be different where you are...Machinery business isn't bad, but it damn sure isn't high right now.

Buyers market compared to the last 5 years...

Seems like tractors have went up 5-10k in the past 3 years around here. Just my observation

And they've dropped at least that much in 6 months.

Has to be the last of a non-electronic series of each brand to still hold value.

Anything under $80K is moving...if it's over $100K forget it.

Gotcha I was meaning on smaller end like the 40-50 series deeres. 100k would buy everything we farm with and some :hehe:

I'd guess the 18-22 range as well. The 4020 and 4440 were probably 2 of the most popular jds' out there. And yes the old girls are almost increasing in value. 2 years ago I was at an auction where a 4960 mfwd needing rubber in it's not so distant future with 12,000 hours and a rebuilt engine at 6,000 went for $69,500!!

I would say the 15-20k range. Maybe I missed it but what brand loader is it and what kind of shape is the loader and bucket in? What was the primary use for the tractor in its day to? That makes a little difference if it was there big tractor to work ground or just did light duty work.

Recently sold a rough 4240, fresh in frame, pump and injectors. Missing glass (sides and rear, expensive front rounded was there), no ac, no radio, synchro, 3 pretty poor and 1 new tire, koyker loader, some rust, beat up fenders. Noisey hydraulic pump, but pressure was right. No lights, aftermarket fuel level and coolant temp. What was left of the brakes was all in the trans sump screen.

Listed for 14k on Craigslist praying it would disappear. 2 days and probably 30 phone calls sold for 15k to hold it for 8 hours... Cash. Was very surprised.
