What does it take to use a ford transfer case on a 48re for my conversion. By doing this I wont have to buy new drive shafts and dealing with slip yokes

You have a 48re out of a 4x4? Count the splines on the tail shaft and see if it is the same on the t-case. You can call advanced adapters and see if they have what you need, I wouldn't doubt if it would bolt right up though.

Dumb question - but can you use the Dodge t-case? I believe they are both NP271 units....

Use the input out of a dodge 271, swaps right in. The ford spline count is different than the dodge. There are two shafts for a dodge, a smaller one for an auto and larger for the manual.

Yeah if you have a 273 ford t-case get the 273 input shaft from a dodge put in or if you have a 271 do the smae get a 271 dodge shaft put in...bolts right up:rockwoot:

271 is a manual shift, 273 is shift on the fly...a 6.0l 271 has different splines than a 7.3l but will swap inputs without a problem.
