I'm looking at a Farmall 560 with a stuck motor that would be a good candidate for a 12v cummins and my Farmall 450 puller needs to be rebuilt or I am leaning toward a 4bt swap. Just wondering who has done a tractor repower so I can gain info.

I know of quite a few 560's running around with 6B and 6BT's sitting between the rails... I will make a phone call or two and find out who has been doing them. I think I know who, but I just want to be sure.

Farmall 560 gas or Diesel? Either way you are talking about doubling the horsepower, easy, with a 6Bt.

WOW!!

I've seen the rear end of a 560.....I think a 12V would break every gear in them under a hard pull..

Oh, I have no problem with someone exploding the chassis of an IH in the name of science...:hehe:

Hahaha yeah... The 560 was actually the death of IH due to their weak rear ends that would fail at stock power levels. The later models were updated and there was a HUGE in the field service update ran by IH to solve the problem. With the updated rearends they actually could hold some power. I trust the updated/later rear ends enough that I am going to be putting a 460 rear end behind a 550hp 340 for a puller :evil

Also, the later design of that rear end was used all the way up into the 686 which was something like 72hp from the factory without issue, and that was with people turbocharging and playing with the 312 and making it a 360 as well. We (my dad and I) had a 560 that we threw a TO-4 on and took it to about 85hp, that was our "big horse" on the farm for almost 8 years and the only problem we really had was HG issues (IH never learned their lesson with 4 studs per cylinder with diesels).
