Anybody looked at the cooling passages on the 6.7? We were looking at one this weekend, and the 6.7 block and head have different coolant passages.
They have two holes right between the cylinders, looks like it allows water to not get trapped up against the Siamese portion of the cylinders. We compared 5.9 CR gasket, 6.7 gasket, and VP gasket. All were a little different. I would like to get some other opinions from people on what they think is going on with the cooling.

Steam holes like the 400 small block chevy's?

Holes in the block, head, and gasket?

Thats what i was telling you. I think i figured out why. The center valve seats (the ones that run directly down the center of the head) take most of the heat because there is no water flow near them on the 5.9 motors. With the steam holes on the 6.7 they were able to get cooling near the center valves and seats.

Yea Reb, you should know that sometimes I am slow to comprehend stuff.
Wonder if holes could be drilled int he VP head. Is it for the head, or is it to make sure that your running the water by the siamese portion of the cylinders.

it has water passages by it as well. The hole cooling system on 6.7 is different. Ports, size, everything is different. This is why I thought using the 6.7 head on 6.7 block was best to do.

Yea it was very interesting looking at the head gaskets, it seems like they are focusing the coolant flow on the exhaust side of the head for sure.
