tire size on a dually?

What is the largest size tires that will fit on the wheels of an 01 3500?

I had 305/75's on my 2500 with stock wheels and liked how it looked. I was wanting to put the same size on a dually but dont know if the rims are to norrow for a 305 tire.

And, where do you get spacers for the rear?

The 295s I have on my truck were only suggested to be installed on a wheel 7.5-10.0 inches wide if I remember right. Dually wheels are 6.5" wide? Probably not a good idea to put 305s on them.

I bought some aluminum 1" spacers for mine, i would imagine you would need to get a much wider spacer for what you are wanting to do.

A 305 will work but a 295 is the same height as the 305 just not as wide or you could step up to the 315 but with any of the mentioned they will balloon out at the top. Of course different brands aren't as wide as others. You just need to check the spec sheets for different brands and see which would work best. I got 315-75-16 toyo m/t's on the avatar which is now a dually and they are not as wide as other 315's. As for spacers, Do a search on ebay. You can find them from 1"-3" up to around $130 a set ready to bolt up.

One more thing, The dually wheels are 6" wide and on your 2500 they were either 6.5" or 7.5" depending on steel or alum.

Ive got 285's with a 1/4" spacer on my DD and 305's on the front and they just barely touch at the bottoms

I don't like the idea of the sidewalls touching, especially under load. Creates more heat.

yea i have a set of 2" spacers for it but have to get them machined to go over the axle. Didnt know the were for a chevy. But for pulling it wouldnt bother me ran it that way for a season with know problem with them touching.

I had a buddy run 285 bfg mt's with no spacers and it didn't touch until he loaded it down! it was awful close though!

I had 305s on mine with 1 1/2" spacers and never had a problem with the tires touching. Liked the way it looked too.

stupid question, im getting ready to get new tires for the flatbed, where is a good place to get different wheels for duallys. no dang semi crap, just a good set of wider aluminum or steel would be great. not wanting custom wheels, it sees alot of dangerous cow pasture runs weekly....

New Dunlop 255 X 85 X 16 next to the old Big "O" 235 X 85 X 16.

I had to install a set of 1/4" wheel spacers in between the wheels to solve the problem. After installing the spacers I now have about an 1/8" of clearance.

Duallies can be funny with this,

The easiest way to know what you are going to get into is this:

If it came with 215,85/16 factory you can fit a 235/85/16 on those rims with no rubbing between the duals

If it came with 235/85/16 factory a 255/85 (Or a 33.6X9X16) will fit on those rims with no ill rubbing effects.Keep in mind our rims are only 6.25 inches in width so we are limited.

Now on my truck being an 01 255's are on it and for asthettics I put a leveling kit (1.5 inch spacers) up front and that is it.

However when the front gets raised the axle assembly will shift to the drivers side 3/4 of an inch for every 1.5 you go up in height. Big deal ... hmmm well kind of yes. Duallies are hard on the front end to begin with so it is best to grab an ADJUSTABLE track bar so you can return it to its centered life and alignments can be made with no compensations

so if i was to get a 33x9x16 or so, im guranteed a fit? its got 235's right now.

want something a whole lot meaner in mud. besides a 33x9x16 is like 150 bucks! gotta love cheap little tires.
