Lets get a thread going on the VE style pump.
I'm really green with this pump but I know there are some things we can do to get more out of them.

Post up what can be done, links/ pics would be good.

I will see what I can come up with. It might take me a min to go through all my notes and pictures and manuals.

That would ROCK!

Thanks. I'm sure most of us know about the fuel screw and the low boost fueling mod (maybe not) but having the info posted will help someone for sure.

Grind your fuel pin, replace the plastic washer with a rubber o-ring, replace factory fuel stops, governor spring, power screw, and grind the AFC lever. Here is a picture of the AFC lever that is often ground flat http://dens-site.net/Dodge_CTD/Governor_Spring/Governor_Spring_25.jpg After these modifications the fuel shut-off solenoid will become problemsome, it will need to be modified also. The rest is tuning, and making things work properly ie: idle quality, avoiding runaway condition, and adjusting pre-boost fueling.

fuel pin?

Fuel stops?

Is the pic of hte AFC leaver of one that's been ground or is it stock?

Please elaborate a bit on the fuel shut off sol.

There is another little trick to be sure you are getting full throttle. Have someone push the fuel pedal to the floor and check to be sure the IP linkage is going to full, to the stop position. If it is not, the pedal can be bent upwards slightly to get full travel.

Little thing but it can be an issue and is worth checking.

are you going with this one for you're strip truck? If so it's gonna take some work. VE's ain't fueling monsters like p-pumps...but they make due for reliability.

I have a question... after grinding the AFC lever obviously you have a bunch more travel on your screw. What are the chances of this screw working its way in to far and messing with the rack causing a run away condition?

This pump has a peirs pin, AFC ground, lots of fuel turned to it, and the timing advanced a hair... what can we do to get more fuel? The intention is to get one built with a bigger head over the winter, but what else can be done in the meantime?

so here is a wrench in the fire, KTA has helped me before on this and i just wanted to let some know that some of us....mainly me, are lucky enough not to have the AFC or any of that crap on their pump. Only a couple of adjustments that affect how it runs and it can runaway really easy. im gettin close to runnin away and have bout 1/2 inch or 5/8ths of an inch of my screw out still. Im looking into bumpin up my timing but not sure wat effects that will have on my motor and such. SMOKEM u need to come down and play with my pump a lil...:D
