Check out what stillsmokin and me are workin on, can you guess what axle it is?

These have been used in gas pull trucks in our area for quite a while with a lot of good results in stock form, This one has been altered quite a bit using parts from another common rear

What you have is a GM eaton used late 40's thru about 1972 excellent rears, only problem I ever had was twisting the course splines pinion & axles. You can change your backing plates and put small brakes & light drum for sled pulling

I think pulltilbroke was just wanting to see if people know this axle is out there.

I knew the 17 spline OE axles were a problem, they're retired to the shed, that's not an issue now. I talked to plenty of people in pulling and there were no known pinion spline problems even at 800HP. I chose the small brakes as you mentioned, parts were cheap and easy to obtain.

It's a nice axle to fit into a first gen, VS a 70U. Had to try somthing different, dana 80's just aren't easy to come by locally, especially the way I needed one geared.
