telling me that a a tape measuere and a flat plate of steel wont work?..
no expidition pull either?

rich said he would allow it right before the mercer pull few months back (1st pull of the season)
and would be willing to work with me. along with another guy that wants to build a 2wd pullign truck.

now few day before a pull were a 2wd is planing on showing up. i get the "kick dirt" type of repsonse on the matter..

im not pulling for points or cash
i dont see the problem here?

let me addressthe FPP policy on this TWD issue.

1. the hitch height for the class is 26". every truck that runs in the class for the money will have a 26" drawbar height.
2. FPP is always very willing to allow 'something different' so long as it does not violate the existing rules //or// so long as it runs as an EXHIBITION.
3. our tech committee will be very glad to look at this situation in the future once sufficient data has been gathered.
one or two runs is NOT sufficient data.
4. this has been the FPP policy since the issue of TWD trucks in the diesel class first arose in the early Spring.

Malibu, the other thing to keep in mind is that Butler is one of the biggest truck draws of the year. In the past few years there was one track and the pull would last into the wee hours. In these cases, exhibition runs are generally not as welcome as they would be at a smaller, less well attended event (or a pure pull, not a fair).

Now this year they're having two tracks so hopefully that alleviates some of the time component. Most fairs prefer to have things over at a reasonable hour due to noise and traffic.

I think you'll find FPP to be a pretty good bunch. Work with them and they will work with you.

Hey now RJ, that's a :kick: !

I got sick as hell for about 2 weeks - turned out to be Lyme disease. Egad. There's 2 weeks I'll never get back.

So that gave me a lot of time to think and I came to the conclusion that I need to stop hooking, and start building the engine/driveline that will allow me to be successful in 2010. I've put it off too many times already because I like pulling so much that I spend all my spare time doing that. And that has to change. Not being there last night really tore me up, but I needed to break the habit.

So if I work hard, I may make some test hooks later in the year with it. I miss seeing you guys already. FPP is a great family.

This is just one of those "bite the bullet" moments for me.

Also sorry to hear that you won't be out this year but I can understand why. Looking forward to seeing you with the "new" duramax in 2010. Hope to see you at a pull thought this summer sometime.

Sorry Pops about getting booted from the track. Thanks for all who pulled last night it was a record number of trucks that hooked:rockwoot: The fair was very happy :)

Well made a run at my hometown fair wendesday night. And I dont think you could have knocked the smile off my face with a sledge hammer . pulled a 331.80 good enough for third place. 2nd was at 342.** , 1st was 35*.**

She came out of hole good and picked up rpm just like i had hoped. I remember watching a few of the hot tractor classes go down the track pushing a flame out the exhaust, and i said to myself "Boy wish mine would do that." Well about 100ft out about an 8 inch cone popped up and stayed there till the run was over, it had never done that before....
And then got to the end and spun out with almost 1000lb out back.

Heres a pic coming out the gate. Now a few more tweaks and she will be right.

Yep. You don't touch the top 5 at an FPP 2.6 event and you owe me $100.

If you get top 5 at an FPP 2.6 event then I owe you $100.

nwpadmax
07-11-2009, 02:35 PM
One major thing you are forgetting -

No FPP 2.6 class will ever have a sled set so light as to run 350'. Ain't gonna happen. And that's what will keep you out of the top 5.

no sir i dont. i quoated what you said and now your changing it.

to bad FPP doesnt have a stock charger class. ~500hp is not going to hang with a 700+hp truck

you said 2wd couldnt be competative, move a sled, top 10, top 5 :blahblah1:

shall i get your posts form last 2 year Mr Cooper?

funny you edit you quote as i was typing.

nwpadmax
07-11-2009, 02:45 PM
The 2wd is still not competitive against up-to-date good 4wd competition.

Top 5 at some obscure brush pull with a flyweight sled does not count.

The only org with stock charger classes is NADM so you better brush up for Numidia to try making your case again. You want the $100 bet for an NADM hook?

malibu795
07-11-2009, 02:46 PM

you miss post 48?

I'm right as rain on this one. Show me one 2wd truck that has made a top 5 at some reasonably recognized event.

and thats the 3rd or 4th time you changed your statment?

Where is all of the believers? lol. Once we get Fireman450's truck lined out and running better, we will be at a "Reasonably Recognized" event and prove to you just how competitive a 2wd can be.

If you get it done against reasonable competition, you'll get props from me. That's always been the case.

I just don't put up with unfounded jibbajabba and keyboard jockeying loaded with excuses and yabbuts.

Footage is the only thing that matters. Let's let it speak for itself.

Because you're not hanging in there with respected 4wd trucks yet.

You get a top-10 in Numidia against good competition and I'll start eating crow. Since they have a stock turbo class and you already have a built motor, you shouldn't have any excuses other than driver screwup. I'll give you a mulligan on that but if you want to demonstrate being competitive, ya gotta show something there.

And don't jerk the sled like you did last night. That was a bust-parts move, rookie!

No need for yabuts or excuses. Just need a little time and money (which is running scarce) to get some bugs worked out. The trucks Lynn has been pulling against are respected trucks. Some were finishing in the top 10 at Scheids last year. Rods, and Teddybear are 2 that I know of.

You're way off on your math since I bought everything right.

Funny, it still runs great, and I did a hell of a lot of winning with the combo (something you have yet to experience). I'm just picking a smart time to take a break and re-tool. Was I taking a risk? Sure. So what. You're taking a giant risk with the way you're running your tranny. You smoke the C1s in that thing in one hook and you'll be begging to even get home. So we're pretty even there...your roof has no walls either.

I could still come out tomorrow and put a whooping on you, but all we'd hear is a list of yabbuts.

So go do something notable at Numidia and start earning respect instead of trying to convince people by endlessly talking about it.

Yes, Adam blew through a piston, but it was an LLY, so no surprise there.

You should take a cue from Kino. No BS, just (to paraphrase) "we're working on it and we'll pull with the big boys and see what we can do." I respect that. Best of luck to them.

I know its prolly a lot more money, but you need to build a two wheel peel with a mod engine, cause its not gona be worth the effort till you do,and then the truck will talk,an they will prolly get you a class, but till then its like pee'n in the wind,

dont think a 500hp 2wd can compete with a 500hp 4wd with the current NADM rule setup?

why is that?

an remember,,Its the set up,and yes four wheels will do better,so if you want to try a two wheel peel, you gota have twice the horsepower,so build it ,an i would throw some big tires on too while your at it

Not to be an ass or anything, but it has been proven many times around here (in the naturally aspirated gasser classes) that a 2wd can out pull a 4wd. I wish I could find the video from a few years back. We were at a pull with a "run whatcha brung" class. 4 5800lb 2wds, and 5 6200lb 4wds in the class, along with the locals bringing out thier daily drivers aswell. All the true pullers had DOT tires and around 7-800hp on racing gas. 1st and 2nd were 2wd's, 3rd was a 4wd, can't remember the rest. This same occurance has happened quite a few times in years past. I know by watching the video's of Lynn's truck seems that he needs double the HP as the 4wds to compete, but his truck is probably barely making 400hp if not less (way over fueled). Once we get it in the 550-600hp range, it should be game on from there.
