Randy, will there be a T&T for racers who don't qualify if they want to come? I know of a few trucks that probably won't make the cut and might want to come.

We have talked about doing either a time only lane or a "gamblers" race. We will have more details soon.

We have talked about doing either a time only lane or a "gamblers" race. We will have more details soon.

Firebird's track configuration only has 2 staging lanes. A time only or Gambler class would be separate and called separately. Looking at the Firebird website, there is a Fun Drags open test session for all racers.

I would like to call attention to Jim Calhoun if any of you haven't had the opportunity to meet him. Jim has been a champion diesel bracket racer in NHRDA for at least the past two or three years. This year he had driven, (the same truck he races) many thousands of miles and competes in division 1, 2 and 6. He has raced enough races so that he leads the bracket racing in all of these divisions. If any of you have ever raced against Jim you know he is a great racer, will help anyone if they need it and is a killer on the lights. Good luck Jim, I'm pulling for you.

To top that off, I swear every season-opening race, Jim will say that this is probably his last season, that he's getting too old for this. I've heard that story for at least 3 years now. Some of us are waiting for him to really retire so we can win some races, but it's great racing with him anyway.

I may have to try to fly into another Div 5 race to try to stay in the top 16 in that division ;)

Thanks Ken, I really appreciate the sentiments.

There are still races in Spokane, Woodburn, and Medford. I don't think it is too late to qualify for for the regional finals. Hope to see you at all the races.

Thanks Michael,

If you remember correctly, I DID announce my retirement at the Awards Banquet last year with the condition that I would retire when someone took the championship away from me. I look to Ken Flores as my role model. I may be old but he is always quick to remind me that he is much older.

Kevin,

You need to be in the top 16 in points for your class in the division you compete in. Only one of the 4 races in Division 6 has been run so if you make the final 3 races you have an excellent chance of qualifying for the regional finals. With the 80% points rule in effect only 3 of the 4 races will be counted for season points. NHRDA Series points rules are posted on the NHRDA website under Rules, also at the bottom of Points.

Sorry about that I will get it fixed next week.

Are you coming to the Redding event in September ?
