what size turbos are you wanting to use?? I'm not too familiar with vw, so what size is the stock turbo coming on these?

It's a baby...... Going from stock to an S-300G to see how well it works.

I think you are going to have major spool issues, most of the larger wheels used are still under 40, a 300G is what? 52?

The stock turbo on the 1.8T is a K03 turbo but not sure what it is on the 1.9l.

i think i'm going to build a set with the size down from the k03 and i think the other one was a kkk or kkk04 something like that. i'm looking for fast spooling not really high boost number. if i can get good cool air at 5-10psi at 1500-2000 i'll be happy cause it will be on my daily driver.

I think a stock VGT paired with a 35 would be about right, have to play with exhaust housings a bit to get it right but that setup should be all kinds of giggly.

are the stock turbos on the 1.9's VGT?

What size of exhaust housing you think for the hx35?

next question...what type of room do these vw's have for 2 turbos/pipes, etc. on either 1.8's or 1.9's?

My Jetta is an 02 and there is a decent bit of room on the back side, just have to have a custom manifold made. And yes, the stock turbo on at least the 99 and newer is a VNT. On the housing? I would say start with a 14 and go from there.

I went with a single VNT20 turbo from Kerma TDI years ago on a 98 Beetle with a set of his race injectors.. It was a quick combination.. If I remember correctly, don't these motors have tendancy to come apart with too much boost? They said I was pushing it at the time, and I believe I was in the low to mid 30's for boost.. It was a fun car though.. Not laggy at all, and 43 mpg with mostly city driving..

I have a few, but they are top views only and the car is too low for my fat arse to fit under it.

It's the boost+high cylinder temps, mine already has studs and I don't THINK I'll push it to high on cylinder temps with no further than I plan to go.

Those are some old pics but I would recognize them anywhere. Dave Cross built them back in the day. His work has gotten rather high end from that point. http://www.passengerindustries.com/

I had a set of franken hillfolk twins on a 1.6L TD IDI back in the day like 10 plus years ago ha.. I would recomment head studs and oringging the head ..i know 38-40psi and head studs blew teh head gasket on my friend Blakes 1.9 mechanical tdi with 12mm plunger.. he was using a hy with a custom machined 6cm turbine housing and it only lit about 2000-2500 rpm and then hard it would go well over 35psi and have issues it blew his head gasket..and the tdis have amls stock and he had studs..i ran a hy9cm turbo with same injection pump on my old rabbit pickup and it would start to light 2500-3000 rpm i kept it about 35-40 psi and my headgsaekt stayed..i used to run a kkk k24 to 35psi all the time and didn't have a problem.. i had talked to haisely's about a custom firering setup..they told me they could get me the ring in a size i specified but i would need to do all the home work on crush thickness and machining the grooves and what depth etc etc. no hints or any thing there..only said they could get the rings in the size and rest was up to me...
my next tdi project is ain a A1 jetta coupe..planning on using that hy35 with 6cm housing blowing into a m90 eaton supercharger ..should be nice..still have to decide on o rings or playing with a firering setup..
Thanks,
Deo
