I'm new to the diesel world... Not to sound stupid but what is the DPF I keep reading about?

DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter. It is a large catalyst that when subjected to high EGT's burns off the remaining soot in diesel exhaust. The downside to it is lousy milage due to the regen process. It injects fuel into the cylinder late in the event and creates high EGT's.

Does a DPF-r Delete actually help out fuel Econ. or is it a waist of money?

On my Dually, the mileage jumped from 13 average to 18.5 average. And if I let my father drive (67 years of age) it goes to 20. You be the judge
