What torque converters are you fast guys running and are you running tight or loose converters?

My .02's.

Not sure if I qualify as "fast", but we are running tighter than stock converters. They still stall out at over 3000rpm if given the chance, but will walk through the brakes at starting at 2500rpm.

Stall speed is a function of torque, the more torque applied, the higher it stalls.

I guess the big question is, "If I tighten it up, can I still get up on the charger when staging?". This appears to be perhaps a tuning question more than a converter question. Even with a tighter than stock converter, I can stage a GT4202 just fine. However on another truck with the same converter and about the same HP, I had a hard time spooling a GT4294, the difference was the tuning.

A tighter converter will put more power to ground, so run the tightest one you can still spool.

the lock percent depend on the truck year also the cr's can spool up better with tighter convertor then a 12v and 24v that is why I have a 89% and toolman has a 91% when we spool up on the line I can't spool up good with more then 89% lock.

Forgot to post in this that I have a suncoast convertor that is what HTS uses since we can't seem to hurt them.

i use a 91% stall from suncoast, but will be getting a 93% soon for me the 91 dosent move the truck quick enough.
