Found or saw one of these for sale, its a 1986 with a 1.9 tdi. its a conversion and looks perfect inside and out. What do you think its worth and what kind of mileage do you think it would get? Would you buy it? What would you pay for it? the owner said make an offer.

I'd buy it. Tell I'll give him a 1,000 for it. Ask if they deliver to Indiana. You should buy it. That's a sweet ride.

Those are REALLY REALLY RARE!!!!! if it was 1.9 TDI swapped in it or even a 1.9L IDI its probably worth over $4000.. my mech tdi rabbit pickup went for $3500 and these diesel double cab pickups are tens times more rare then a rabbit pickup !!!! do a serch and check them out.. mileage would be in the 30mpg range.. top speed may be low the transaxles had low gears in them probably top out a 70-75mph ...and you could get a syncro 4wd system too those double cabs are even more rare.....
If you can get it for under $1500-$2000 you are doing well.
Thanks

The unit pictured is not the actual vehicle. The vehicle I saw was in much better shape then the one pictured. The owner is a collector of sorts and I'm sure that he wont take less then four thousand. If they kept the boxer trans-axle in it do you think it would have better speed and mileage?

actually the diesel transaxle would have better top speed.....normally they have a little wider spacing and better final drive ..but that isn't a given the trans code would tell for sure.If you have the code we can look it up etc...
