View Full Version : To the people who cast the exhaust manifolds.
Could you change the mold so it leaves more surface like this.
Then the gate can attach here and not have to use a spacer.

Because Ron, if they did that, maybe they wouldn't crack all the time.
That spot is right where all my aftermarket manifolds crack...sucks.
But as usual, excellent work Ron!!!

wow ,Chris told me about that but a picture is worth a thousand words ,awesome
Too bad it won't fit the new head. Good thing i made extra mounts and saved the program.
I gave one of the mounts and some info to a company to see if they can incorporate this into a manifold. Maybe by this fall there will be something available off the shelf to make this easier to do.

I thought years ago ATS had a wastegate integrated into some of their manifolds.
Couldn't find a 38mm gate so i had to adapt it up to a 50.
Wish I had used bigger bolts now. The 50mm gate is huge.

What rod? And how does it do on engine blocks?

Probably a high nickle rod on pre-heated cast iron.

Is that a PDI T4?
I have not found anything that will fix cracked cast iron reliably. I use this rod to build up a boss to machine and install stuff onto the manifold. No pre-heat. don't let it get too hot. Hard to drill and tap. PDI T4.
