Since we don't have a seperate forum for wheels/tires on this site I guess I'll post this here. I'm sving up for new wheels and tires on my truck and can't really decide what size to run. I'm really leaning towards 33-35" tires and can't decide between 16,17 or 18" wheels. Some body styles look much better with 16" than 18's and some look better with the bigger wheels. I'm just not sure what size to run on my truck.

So, anyone with pics of 18's on a 2nd gen Ram? Here are the style wheels I'm looking at, not neccesarily these particular ones, but this style at least.

Looks nice, any more pics of that rig from other angles? Also, what lift are you running?

Thanks,
George

I'm just running some D25 leveling springs. I'm out of town right now and don't have access to any more photos other than what's on the web.

I say take the difference between the 16s and 18s and go with 17s...

You mean them 19.5 mini trucker wannabe wheels BG lol? The big boys are now rollin on 22s son.

18s look good but hard to find anymore with the correct back spacing since Weld went south. These were 18x9.5 Welds with +32 and 6.43" I believe it was, back spacing. There are a few wheels still that can found with a lot of positve offset but you have to hunt. Anything with less than +12 and 5.5 is going to stick out like them 13" gold plated wire spokes you see on the low riders cruising the west side.

I think these 20s with 33s also look good.

The big boys can keep the 22's with low profile tires, 19.5's are expensive enough as it is :bang

Mike, with a wider tire like that did you have any issues with inner fender liner or control arm rubbing?? Most folks with aftermarket wheels seem to have them stuck 2 ft outside the body and I hate that. Thinking hard about another set of wheels/tires for winter. 19.5's are great for hauling 20k, but they really suck in a mudhole.

Heck I don't know if you were talking to this mike or a different mike, but I will answer anyway. :)

The stock dodge wheels are 6.5 inches backspacing. I went with 4.5 inches backspacing, but on a 8" wide rim. The tires stick out just a little bit, but not much. The ONLY rubbing I have is at full lock when the front end compresses, and even then it isn't bad. The tires are 35/12.50s.

Well, I was asking the other Mike (dukey) LOL LOL

I do thank you for the reply though, how bad do the tires sling stuff over the truck? That was my biggest gripe about the former rims on the goat, drive thru a puddle and the truck looked like it had been in a mudbog competition :bang

I did not have rubbing with the 4.5" lift. My new setup probably will rub on the control arm(s). 22x10 Bozes with 7" backspacing and 11" wide tires along with stock - 1 or 2" ride height. I'm not too worried and think it's something you just learn to drive around. I'll tack some stops on the steering knuckle and it will turn like a Ferd lol.

If I hit the slighest mud-hole, there will be chunks in low-orbit for a few months.

So it depends on the mood I'm in.. Just washed the truck, I drive around.. Every other day of the week, I see how high the mud will fly.

:bang Forget you had it lifted for those pics, lemme know what happens with the new setup Mike, inquiring minds want to know.

What I wanted to know, keeping my truck clean is not a big concern, keeping some visibility out of the windows is LOL LOL :thankyou2:
