3.55 to 4.88 in a dodge

What all is needed to make the swap happen?

I would like to do it on a budget...
Dana 60 and 80.

I have 3.55 now.. the dana 60 can I get the thick gear from nitro gear and put the 4.88's in my 3.55 carrier?

Ring Axle

Also what about the dana 80?

I'm wondering about having to buy carriers and if I do just buy spools.

If I can get by using the carriers I have I will just get them welded.

Thanks
Rusty

If I'm not mistaken i think the carrier break is at 4.10 gears. Lower (numerically higher) gears require a different carrier.
You'll at the minimum need a master install kit for both rears.
I recommend having someone with experience do the install. Lots of specialty tools, experience and patience is required. If put in wrong you just wasted $500 or more.

You will need a carrier/spool/locker for the rear. 4.10 and numerically higher. For the front you can get a thick gear or a ring gear spacer.

I am assuming this is for a non street truck? If so weld the front and get a spool for the back.
