does this happen on a regular basis while driving? What is that nasty tapping knocking sound in the back ground?

That's crazy! I'm suprised no one has sued Ford for getting burnt.

This is a quote that I found
"There is a small fuel injector in the particulate filter to burn off soot. To fix is to reprogram the PCM, its pulsing more fuel than specified into the system. The flames don't appear untill there is a higher oxygen content, around the tips of the tailpipe. That ticking is the truck shut down to 4 cylinders on an overheat prevention system. 4 cylinders act as an air pump to cool."
