What's the coldest air intake temps guys have seen with a W/A setup?

Just curious how cold some guys are getting there air intake temps during a pull with a water to air intercooler only. No water injection or air/air setups, just a water to air...

Good thread topic, I was just about to ask the same question:thankyou2:
To compare, what are peoples #'s are with air to air without spray.

on a 90* day, 65psi out of a 66/71/14

ebay air to air 220*
non intercooled near instantly pegged the 400* gauge
water/air straight water (2 gallon res) 135*
water/air ice filled (2 gallon res) 85*, was only able to make 55psi

Did you get a chance to dyno to see the difference in HP between them? I bet you would see a considerable gain with the air to water at 5psi less boost showing.

so the air/water setup dropped the temps over 315* with only 2 gallons of ice/water?

Was this over an entire pull or just a quick loading of the engine?

thanks

this was on the street, 30mph until 110 or so.

their would be no ice left in the time it took to stop, pull over and open the res.

IAT's held steady though.

I would assume that air to air would be hotter pulling due to low travel speed, where the air to water it wouldnt matter.

I also would say that non intercooled (straight pipe from turbo to intake) temps were much higher than 400*F

What brand and size water/air intercooler?

That is some good info right there, thank you.

Our 4" sled-puller kit (over rocker cover) lowers an S400's 400*F discharge down to 65*F in 95*F ambients.

Ice, of course - 134A coils don't have enough recovery rate, and it's tough getting a Dewars flask of LN2 through Tech.
