axle twist

i have a set of 300m axles and i am wondering what and where they will twist before they break?splines, shaft or what?

If you put a line down the axle you can check, most times it'll be at the spline section you'll see twist

Depends on the metallurgy of the axles, as I am sure that not all 300M axles are the same. Saying whose they are might help.

if twisted and your locked and drag racing or pulling, i would replace them, don't need to meet the wall.

i've seen some axle get a 1/4" of twist out of them with out breaking. others not so much. some axles are built to twist like in crawlers, that way they are less prone to breaking under varied loads.

What you should be looking for also is how quickly they twist....

I have seen off shore boats twist up 300m in 1 day... meaning they need new shafts next full race day..

Are you seeing twist after the 1st day or after 2 days, 4 days....or 6 months.
Knowing how long and if under the same circumstances can give you an idea when to lose them so you never actually incur the scenario of the actual break
