Krazeeun

yup, after two combat tours I finally got tasked to a back-base... anyone passing thru Manas this upcoming spring, look me up!

now the question is...how long do I stay there before getting forward deployed.. my guess is... 71 days. Any takers?

hey man whatcha doing in manas?

I will be going back through there in the spring on my way home cant wait!
But I have been stuck there afew different times coming and going from afghanistan for more than a few weeks and man that place gets boring!

Krazeeun

I'll be having two beers a day, cramming in as much college as possible, hitting the gym and overall having a relaxing 6 month vacation from busy-body home station stuff.. I know it'll be boring but i'm actually excited about the change of pace.

I highly doubt i'll stay there long unfortunately, they're ALWAYS tasking manas to backfill downrange (EOD)

Well I'll remember to try to hit you up when I am on my way back out, but that will not be to July/Aug. That place was the land of milk and honey compaired to here.

That should be wrapping up the end of my tour there about that time-frame... it may be the land of milk/honey but I've got a ring on my finger and fobbit's make me angry :stab:

I'll be having my 2 beer's a day, working out, trying to get CCAF out of the way and waiting (drooling) for the tasking to forward deploy back into A-stan :woohoo:

Look me up if anyone's coming thru, I'm down to talk diesels, drink beer & yell at fobbits :kick:

Was through Manas in June. When they told us you will get in trouble for carrying your weapon.................wow. Why can't I get combat pay for a place like that....

Krazeeun
09-30-2010, 11:36 PM
YUP! So far I've supported the 10th Mountain in Baghdad 07' and this last trip I was dedicated EOD support to the 42 Royal Marines in 08/09... being on a regular air force deployment should be entertaining, hopefully boredom doesn't get me in trouble...

Dude I just figured out your the guy I been talking to on cumminsforum about your traction bars lol!

Yeah man you cant complain about 2 beers a day!Im from seymour johnson(goldsboro NC) and we are the first F-15 Crew chiefs that is starting the "6 month" deployments lol! That is turning into 8 months!Yes I know I cant complain when army guys come out here for a year or more but atleast most of them get to shoot some **** or something better than just working on jets constantly!

I should be coming through there in march man Ill hit ya up on here before I leave, you should just bring those traction bars Ill get them from you there loL!

I'll be passing through Manas around April time frame hopefully. I was just there about a week ago. I'm now in Leatherneck waiting on a helo ride to go play with the taliban. :stab:

BTW Manas has better food in its tent chow halls then Camp Pendleton does in its regular ones... damn you Air Force guys get all the nice stuff! :P

I was under CE while there also. I did a HN deployment aka TCN. Was about as easy as it gets. Id say it ranked as one of the best deployments Ive been on and I would love to come back or stop on by.

I was just in the middle of cooking some supper for us when it I got slapped in the face with a memory. Your EOD so there for your probably in the new building correct? We helped build that building and it was almost done when we left. That place(building) had quite the history in it before it was even finished. HAHAHAHAHa damn desert queens.

Krazeeun
10-10-2010, 08:08 PM
you've already broken in our new building... i havent even seen the damn thing yet!

theonlyz
10-10-2010, 10:21 PM
hahaha ya that was like a yr ago. It wasnt me that broke it in, it was some of out other escorts. The one female got caught in the males latrine at Petes with a marine. That is the worst latrine on on base and just nasty.

On another note, wife went through there last winter on the way to Afghanistan and a bunch of their females got in trouble but for differnt reasons. Apparently after two pints they couldnt hold their liqueur and had to be baby sat.

Its a good place to be! Go to ITT and see if you can get on a trip.

If you land a ride on a 130 going south, ask the loadmaster if you're with a Wyoming crew regardless of what is painted on the plane. It could be me. If you know who my Avitar is, you'll know what name to ask for.

lol, there was a little kurgi guy there that we called the pimp. He literally wore a puprle suit with a leapard pattern hat, and he always had 3 or 4 women with him dressed like ho's. He even had a little gangtsa walk. I was only transient there for a couple days, so I couldn't tell you much else about it. I didn't even get time to see the gym there. The mwr was awesome.

theonlyz
02-05-2011, 07:06 PM
thats one of the cleaners. his name is actually Hollywood, and yes hes a pimp and a really cool guy to talk to. He actually learned to speak english by watching hollywood movies hence the name. All the female Kurgi's dress like that because they never know when they may come across there next job. They dress to impress and alot of the males do the same. Monthly average income is right around 150-200 and everything is corrupt to include education, state and government.

The gym there is quite small but not to bad when theres not alot in transit. I would go back there in a heart beat!!!

Hahaha, I know how that works. We turn it in, and lose it for 3 weeks or more while waiting for a part LOL

I turned my cruiser in once for a headlight bulb out. There was another wrecked cruiser already in, so I figured why not just take the bulb out of it and replace my dead one? Hell no, some butter bar chewed my ass about how scavenging isn't allowed, and I had to wait 3 hours while they sent someone into town to napa, and get the right bulb for the car. That's 1 less patrol/first responder not on the road for 3 hours. Gotta love officers.

LOL, well yea, we figure you cops drive around base with headlights out all the time, we figure u can go without the vehicle as a whole!!!! By the way, what base was that at???

FYI, unfortunately we have to follow some guidelines when cannabalizing, and if that car was wrecked, it might have still been in processing mode for Accident Estimates and what not, so we cant take anything off of it til it is done.

On a side note, it is our goal to keep vehicles for as long as possible, because we all know that LOW Mission Capable Rates get us recognition!!! LOL haha.

Good luck with your cross training. What rank are ya?

Yes he came in the Marines in the first gulf war, separated, army infantry shortly after iraq started then reserve af eod after he realized the army suc.. i mean, isn't the air force :poke:

EOD? or VM?

LOL the army is where I'm drawing most of my experience. And yes, I'm glad I went AF. Cop leadership sucks, but 6 in 6 out is a lot better than 12-15 out.

I'm at grand forks. The problem wasn't so much the dead light, but that they wouldn't let me "scavenge" and once I turned the car in, I wasn't allowed to leave, they deadlined it. I contribute a lot of it to just being grand forks.

E5, trying to crosstrain to vehicle maint, and a couple others that I can't remember the exact names of. I even through pavement in there :) At this point I'd be willing to do anything but services or going officer LOL EOD was on my original list when I enlisted, but the wait was over 8 months, so I went cop instead. Don't get me wrong, being a cop is awesome, the hours suck, but the job is great. I just can't handle getting backdoored and backstabbed by leadership anymore.

be careful if you get the paving job...you might get stuck in a red horse unit. back in the day it used to be good but now they (at least the one i was in) eat their own just as bad as the cops.

hmmmm, good lookin out. Thanks man. It's off the list!

AFSC Choice 1: 2T111 - VEHICLE OPERATIONS
AFSC Choice 2: 3E211 - PAVEMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT (GONE NOW)
AFSC Choice 3: 3E111 - HEATING, VENTILATION, AC, AND REFRIGERATION

I threw HVAC on there because I did it in college as a part time job with the engineers that worked on the campus. It was fun work then.

I'm also starting to think the eating your own thing is just a basic air force principle, you know, like one of the FOUR core values LOL

you don't really need to take it off your list. hell, all of the jobs you listed are in red horse. lol there are only a few jobs out there that they don't have.

it does seem that way though. it seems more and more now and days that leadership only cares about how to better themselves instead of taking care of their troops.

Yup, it's all about EPR/OPR bullets. I guess I'll move pavements to the bottom at least. I'm trying to think of any other jobs to add. Just anything to increase my chances of re-training. I just really don't want a desk job.

lol. They do too much running for my tastes. That 1.5 miles every 3 months is enough for me. Not to mention the possible 2 years of schools. I've be eligible for MSgt by then LOL

Madmike, i thought u said Vehicle Maintenance, not Vehicle Ops. Now if you want to be a Combat Trucker, then VO is the job for u!!!

Vehicle Maintenance, we take care of our folks, u wont see that eating your young mentality very often.

I wanted to do VM, but I figured if the rest of the air force is anything like grand forks, I'll never actually touch a vehicle. Our trans guys send EVERYTHING, chevy or not, to the chevy dealership in town. But I'm thinking of adding them to the list above ops the next time I submit for retrain in September.

you have to remember, if the Vehicle is GSA it has to go downtown per the GSA Agreement. If it has a regular AF Reg number then we work on it. We as a whole across the AF VM work on Heavy Equipment more than light duty stuff.

There is a lot more to it than us not wanting to work on it and we send it downtown to be fixed

Oh I know it's not by choice. I'm sure you'd rather work on all our stuff in house. Saves time and money I'm sure. I was just stating what I've observed at my base. I'm sure it'd be different if we had more vehicles, but to be honest, us cops and a few officers are the only ones with gov's any more. We don't even have planes anymore!

yea, what are you going to tell customs when they ask what the scaffolding is for? LOL

That's why it's always good to have a loadmaster/FCC on a heavy as a friend .. I was in Iraq and our jets flew through about every week ... The marines left a bunch of stuff behind including hummer wheels and tires everywhere ... I picked up a bunch of the mess for them.
