Will it hold?
I bought a Stg. 2 47re from Jeff about 2 years ago and parked the truck almost a year ago to build the motor. So now let the brain picking begin, I was wondering if a 650-750hp motor is to much for the transmisssion? Being as its rated up to 650, I dont want it to be to much for it. I will change the fluid because its been sitting for a year. (the link is in my sig for mods, plans, and whatnot)
On a side note, I was also wondering how to adjust/bump up gov. pressure. I know there is a screw in there, and with me not knowing a heluva lot on transmissions, I dont want to tear into it without being 100% sure. I was told by Jeff a while back to turn it up just a shade because I would have to literally come to a complete stop for it to shift down to first and wanted the shifts to be a little firmer. Thanks guys. |
Knowing your luck with trannys Nick it wont hold.

Little allen screw on the drivers side of valve body. Have to drop it to use Allen wrench, or use vice grips lol
I've been told 1 full turn is 3psi Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |

but this is on a valve body that's heavily modified so it's going to be different for yours, I would still say do it least 5 full turns to start, and then if it seems almost perfect adjust it with the TV cable. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |
And you can do this without dropping the vb or no?

Nick, you need to just call them. He's gonna be the only one that will be able to give direct answers since he built it. Then if something were to go wrong, I'm sure he would be willing to help. From the shifts I've felt in that truck, I'd say more line pressure is the last thing you need lol.

You need a 3/16 Allen to adjust the screw. CC is more pressure. I would call and ask Jeff, but I'd assume about 2 turns is what you'll want

I want to say Jeff sad no more than 3 or 4 when I talked to him a while back.

I am beyond happy with my full manual with the pro ratchet...except when i have to make tight turns and go from first to reverse a few times. It gets to be a b1tch.

Idk, i have been using a forward pattern for years in race cars. Having said that, i would constantly phuck up with a reverse pattern lol no beuno.

I drove everyday in a car with a regular full manual and a b&m quicksilver... Some people just have less of a tolerance than others. And while its no truck... A second gen Camaro with a 6" cowl hood is no small car lol
|
Yea I understand, but I would bet that your Camaro has a much better steering radious than my truck lol is a quicksilver a ratchet ?

A quicksilver is a cross between a gate and ratchet. I absolutely LOVE this shifter. |
