gears- What rear?
These parts are suppose to be out of a 95 model, 3/4 ton, CTD 4wheel drive.
I was sent this pic, looks like someone did a gear ratio change, and a set of covers etc. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbfjo5ypa.jpg Could the Rear carrier be out of a Dana 60 or more likely to be a Dana 70 ? How can I ID the parts I want to use the gears in a Dana 60 Thanks |
Well the rear carrier is hard to tell if its a 70 or 80. The front will be a 60
need better pics of the front ring gear. (side view) Also maybe count the splines on the rear spider gears Looking at the pics I assume A puller re-geared his truck mainly because the bearing caps are in the pics as well as the covers. |
Looks like the factory tags are there, also. Get the numbers or a good pic of them and we can tell you whatever you need to know. As Chase said, the front will be a D60. If the truck was an auto it will have the D70 rear, if a manual it will be the D80.

There are a series of numbers stamped on the ring gear. What are they?

Thanks everyone
I'll have to get more info about the parts from the owner |
Or if it is a dually it will also be an 80 rear

haven't got to talk to the owner yet
Will the Dana 70 Carrier be the same 92 vs 95 single wheel vs dually axle spline count??? with out me pulling an axle to check spline number Thanks |
According to Randy's Ring and Pinion, the '92 will be 35 spline and the '95 will be 32 spline.
I believe any dually will be a D80 regardless of tranny. May be wrong on that, though. I would still suggest getting a detailed pic of the tags. Everything you need will be there. |
