How to get more out of a 5gsk
I am in the process of getting my motor tuned and have the 5 gsk kit from Columbus Diesel on a 175 94' pump with cut DV's, rack plug, dual -6an feed, .093 holders, .093 lines, no plate and 55psi at idle 50psi WOT for fuel. The truck runs hard up to 4,000 and then just holds and maybe gets to 4,200. I would like to get this thing to run 4500 if I gave it a couple of more clicks on the springs would that help? And yes the rest of the motor is built to run these rpms.
Thanks |
i don't think you need 55 psi at idle i thought stock was like 14 or so
|
yes you need to tight them a touch ,but it will make it harder to drive as the petal will get very touchy

I think 14psi is for the VP 24v trucks. |
You could try a few clicks. If you go very far the idle will not be able to adjust back properly. Then you could try adding some shims it might do what you're after also. If you don't have a good cam in the pump you'll probably need one to get the rpm your after and I'm sure you know but that kind of rpm is going to take quite a bit of timing.

i have 5k springs in mine this year and not sure if i think i got more RPM. if anything i think they are worse (than the 4k last year).
how is your idle? |

better check with the pump guru's.... I think you can damage a P7100 with that much supply pressure.

I don't know the limit for sure but we have a couple in our group that have been running 60 psi for over 2 years with no problems on the pump.
|
seams like it would be hard on the plungers, Cam, etc.
|
I have a 6K spring kit on the shelf in my garage....... If you are interested PM me as it needs a good home.

6k? How would my stock internals and valve train handle that:hehe: ?

I dont believe 50psi is gonna hurt that p pump, just prob not necessary for that much pressure. We just put some guages in a bone stock 97 12v and on a 30lbs Isspro gauge it was reading 20psi at idle and went up to 30ish with rpm.
