oil cooler relocate
Hey Guys,
Is there any interest in an oil cooler relocate kit for the 6.0's? We have a few being tested right now and we are talking about doing another run of 10. We would need all 10 sold before we make them. Is there any interest? If so, we can get some quotes together and I can give those interested prices. |
I am interested.....sign me up.

Ive been looking for something like this! Could we get a bit more info??

Sure, the factory oil cooler works very well. I think we can all agree there. The oil and coolant are usually within a few degrees of each other. The issues isn't its effectiveness, it is the failures that happen.
So, what we have been doing is making an oil/coolant cooler out of stainless. There is no issue with failure and yet we are able to keep the oil to coolant temperatures very close. The cooler is removed from the engine and mounted inside of the bumper out of the way. There are a couple of reasons we did this. First, by changing the material to stainless, we needed to increase the size of the cooler and there wasn’t room. Second and a by-product of the first, we are able to increase the capacity of the high pressure oil pump reservoir. We are not putting a huge radiator in the front grill. By doing that, you are adding heat into the ac system and intercooler. In the winter time, you can risk packing the radiator with ice and causing your oil to never heat up properly and in the summer, the air conditioning system doesn’t cool the cab very well. |
(if im not already on the list) you know im interested !!

I am interested as well. A price would be nice also. Thank you

I will be PM'ing prices as soon as I know we have 10 or more actually interested. We aren't going to make extra and this is a one run type of a deal. If you guys give us the feedback we are looking for and there is enough interest, we may go into production. I know I have a few dealers screaming for these at the price we are shooting for, but I want to see how big the market is outside of them. Right now, we are only going to have enough parts made to make the amount we sell. So, if we only have 5 people, then the parts are going to be higher than if we get 10 or more.

Hey trusted, PM me as well.

I'm interested, PM me too plz.

Isn't the OEM cooler made from stainless?
|
no, it is aluminum and very thin. The one we are building is much thicker and has bigger gaps for the coolant to pass through (and any debris). The only down side is the weight.
|
Might as well throw me on the list for interested...I would like to see some pictures of the install though if you have some Chad.
|
PM me too please.

Will changing the main material to stainless cause heat transfer problems?
Thermal Conductivity of some common Materials |
Cause a problem, yes and no. If we were trying to go back in with the same size unit, yes. Being that we are going in with a larger cooler mounted elsewhere, no.
The major downside that we have found is weight. |
Is there anyway to get a ballpark price pm'ed so I know what to tell the boss? Thanks
