Lol. More of a seasonal person. I would love to come down there though. I use MasterCam at work. 3D Mill lvl 3. Ive run and/or programmed for Mazak 6000, 4800, makino horizontals, hardinge's, fadal's, and mazak verticals. Haas, okuma, hardinge lathes. And hansvedt wire edm. If my boss pisses me off tomorrow I'l give you guys a call.

We program in G code, we are currently using SurfCam, and we also have a seat in CAMWorks.

K80 03-19-2012 03:34 PM

I program in G also with MasterCam. I have dabbled with FeatureCam a little and seen Gibbs but not those 2^^. Wish I was closer again. Great opportunity for someone.

benchum99 03-19-2012 03:57 PM

Wish I had experience. I'm going to college for manufacturing engineering, my dad owns a machine shop with manual machines. I have had many hours in the shop at school with 4 classes in programming with mastercam and 2 manual programming classes. We have mainly haas mills and lathes but a couple hardinge and a morei seiki

Im unlike all the kids at school in the machine tool program. there all ecspecting to get outa school and BAM! people beg them to come work, just becaues they know the genreal idea of how machine shops run..... its in te details boys, knowing that a g56 manualy turns on coolent in a program or that you can control the amount of material a drill takes in one peck, im so ready to be introduced to the real world where mom and dad arnt there to dig me out of a hole, and where ive got to fend for myself, bring home my own baccon... Im sick of seeing all the kids at school drive around there "daddys money" trucks when some of us have had to work our butts into the ground to get a beater dodge that needs a clutch and four of every thing they make. shew... didnt mean to high jack the thread but i felt it was needed to show you guys im on the same level as you. 16 or not

At least you have that option in high school. My school didn't have anything but vo-ag, pig and cow showing.

IDK what kind of goofy machine you guys have in tech, but a M8 turns on coolant in every machine i've run.(M9 tuns it off) G54,55,56, ect. are usually work offsets in fanuc talk. I do see what you mean, I also went to a vocational school. Stay in school buddy, there are job opening out there.
