Winter Meltdown no-prep Larry B verses Shawn E

This weekend we had a local no-prep race “Winter Meltdown”. I didn’t go because I had some other things going on (building race truck), but ole Larry Brown made it out and hurt some serious feeling in the street truck class.

Lined up against Shawn from Street Outlaws in his “manvan” LS Trailblazer and took him out in the second round. Now we are seeing some complaining on social media from another guy he beat in the 7.0 index class.

I think it’s a great thing to shake these guys up with a diesel.

Not really, he may go through a converter every 150 passes. He races almost every weekend, and every diesel race we go to he double or triple classes.

From the weight of the flat bed your speaking right?

It’s a full aluminum flat bed, not any heavier than a stock bed.

SmokeShow 12-16-2018 03:45 PM

I'm guessing he's talking about burning up convertors from the long stage time rather than the bed but IDK, that's just a guess at what he was getting at.

Regardless, I think it's awesome! Seeing any diesel laying waste to some gassers and then them crying about it gives me a F'n chub!

Is the truck class not supposed to allow 4wd? What kind of sense does that make?

I’m sure, he does lean on the converter a lot but doesn’t really have any issues.

Wasn’t that truck a manual once upon a time?

I don’t think so, pretty sure it’s always been an auto.

Pretty sure not all are.

If they allowed Larry in the class, it's too late to complain now.

You could get the TBSS either way. I think all the SS trucks were awd, but I'm sure you could convert to 2wd.

There are several AWD vehicles that run these events, all running drag radials as well. Truth is, a good no prep racer can out 60ft these trucks in a small tire 2wd. Only reason people are *****ing is because Larry was winning. Lol

J-Pipes 12-16-2018 09:31 PM

I like how they acknowledge the 7k+ lbs weight, and still complain. That's what, probably a solid 2k lbs heavier than the trail blazer?

The guy that was complaining was in a car. So yea, at least twice the weight and he is worried about what kind of tires the truck has. Smh

I don't have Facebook, how quick is the flatbed truck? I love the aluminum flatbed, awesome.

Larry changes things all the time, but usually around mid 10s.

zfaylor 12-17-2018 10:19 AM

Most of the SS TB guys convert to 2wd when they have big power.
