Wrong. Not all 24V stick are 6-speed. They use the NV4500 as well

zstroken 08-21-2008 08:26 AM

Nv4500 was available even in the early 3rd gens.
A few 1999 have seen the 6 speed, the 99 and 2000 nv5600 all had 1.25" inputs. All the NV4500 have 1.25" inputs. 2001+ nv5600 have 1.3875 inputs.

1st gens can have a 3 speed(727) or a 4 speed(47RH) Most of the 3 speeds came with a 3.08 rear ratio.
The manual 1st gens used a getrag

Early 2003 non HO's got a 47RE, then you go to the 48RE after that until the advent of the 6.7 and then you go to either a 68RFE(chrysler made) or the 68RE(aisain)
The manuals on the 3rd gens I am not sure of the date, but I think the 6 speeds up until 2004.5 were NV5600 and then you went to the G56.

Wow thats a lot of info.. Can we break it down to year, motor, tranny?

Dodgentwo 08-21-2008 08:30 AM

All 12V '94-98 sticks were nv4500. Not sure what auto was in the 2nd gen 12v. All 1st gen stick were the getrag. Zstroken can fill in the rest lol

2nd gen auto 94-95 47RH, 96-2002 47RE, with a transducer/harness change 2000? I have seen people say that some 96 have 47RH, so it could be a mid model change.
Manual 94-98 definately a nv4500, 99-2000 a few nv5600(1.25" input), mostly nv4500
2001-2002 any HO engine had a big input shaft nv5600, standard output nv4500.

3rd gen auto non HO got the 47RE(think they were using up old stock pretty much 2003)
48RE up until the 6.7 then the 68RFE, or the 68RE. The RE is pretty much cab and chassis model.

I thought you could get late 1st gens w/ NV4500s?

Begle1 08-21-2008 01:16 PM

89-93 Manual: Getrag 360, 5-speed, overdrive
89-91 Auto: 727/ 36RH, 3-speed, non-lock up, non-overdrive, all came with D71 3.07 rear end
91.5-93 Auto: A-518/ 46 RH. 4-speed, overdrive, non-lock up
*3.07 rear ends were available on 4 and 5 speed models, but were VERY rare.

Also early 3rd gen manual NV4500 with the SO motor, 03-05.5 HO to 600 series got NV5600, 05.5 to 07.4 5.9s got the g56 with a short 6th gear. The 6.7 G56 has a taller 6th gear.

rs359 12-12-2008 05:34 AM

A first gen 47rh? I thought all first gen autos were 727 3 speed or a518 non lockup . Rich

bh10 12-12-2008 08:10 AM

And if you want to get more technical in 07.5 the G56 change the 6th gear ratio.
