4bt Performance

Okay guys i am new to 4bt motors but want to buy some performance parts for it, does anybody know where is a good place to buy some performance parts.

JFlagg 03-06-2011 09:48 PM

Depending on what you want, anywhere that sells 12V performance stuff. You just buy 2 less LOL

What are you looking for?

wwm 03-06-2011 10:57 PM

well i want to make some good horsepower with it. i seen the south bend clutch mud drag, and its pushing 700 but with nitrous, so i am looking for some parts that will get me 350-450 on fuel.

What pump?

i know that Hamilton and PDR make cams, push rods and springs for them.

its got a little ve pump, but i am resreaching the p-pump swap. can any one lead me to the right direction.
Also where can you buy a p-pump for it that will flow up to 600-700hp?

Better pull out a few credit cards. The P-pumps for the 4bt are rare so a core is hard to come by. For 700 HP, you're probably going to need a custom billet pump unit so big $$$$$$$.

LReiff 03-08-2011 09:14 AM

If you buy a p-pump be very sure it's a P7100, not a P3000!

mikmaze 03-08-2011 09:38 AM

they can be setup to run, I watche done put down 125 hp per cylinder at a dyno in MD, twin turbo's and buring wmo ciluted with a bit of diesel....... it was twin turbo'd and nasty when on the boost.;l

That's the one I referred to in the other thread. ;) It shocked the owner and myself, the only clue we had prior was that it would out pull a 450hp 6 cylinder with the same load behind it. LOL

I don't know if a 12mm pump would get there, but a 13mm should shouldn't it?

A 6bt can do over 1k on fuel; minus two cylinders, I'd think 800 would be possible, if not more.

Do you have to have a core to buy one? Since they are so rare anyways

It's the same as on a regular 12 valve style P7100. If you have a core pump, they can change the cam, install new larger barrels and plungers for about $4500, or you can step up to a completely billet Sigma for $15,000.

So no, you don't need a core pump if you elect to buy a custom billet pump.

But I think most people interested in building a hot 4bt motor are not interested in forking over big $$$ for a billet pump.

LReiff 03-08-2011 06:23 PM

I really do not see the need for a 13mm 4bt-P7100. We have not yet got a race ready 4bt together but with the number we've seen I do not believe that 700hp on fuel only with a 12mm pump is a far stretch.

Cumminsfever 03-08-2011 08:56 PM

I believe 350hp (or more) is attainable from a ve pump.

But for all out horsepower, a p-7100 is the ticket.

Maybe 1k??

In my simple mind, I see what the 6bt can do, and drop it by a couple hundred-ish for a comparable 4bt. I certainly lack the experience though, mostly daydreaming stuff:lolly:

We have a 4bt P7100 pump ready to go with 13mm B&P's and all the goodies. We also have all the engine upgrade parts that you would need. Pistons, Cam, Rods, Billet push rod's, Head Studs and Injectors to match what ever you are wanting to do with it. Thanks, Brady 1-800-955-0476

kuntryboy369 03-09-2011 09:21 AM

we have p pump 4bt cores (whole engine) come through work every so often. if memory serves you can pick the whole engine up for $2000-2500. even if you use the core just for the pump swap its everything you need (with working pump). just some food for thought...

If the same modifications are applied to the 4B as a 12 valve you'll the same power increases. We closed in on 300 from a VE 4BT before the 11" clutch became the limiting factor. There's a lot of fuel in those little pumps, but they get to a place where they're finicky and cost a lot for just a little more making the P7100 a better option. With it's dynamic timing the VE makes a better setup for lower power levels. You can achieve mileage and off idle driveability that's difficult for the P7100 to match.

A 250HP 4B in a <6000 pound vehicle is a pretty fun ride.

My Junker Drag truck is a pretty fun ride, 550-600 HP in a 5200 pound vehicle. :poke:
