Dana 70 Spool

Any one know where to get one at, sick of the stock rear end and a locker is to much for the pocket book right now. any help or numbers would be great thanks.

I think your crazy running a spool on the street. Been there and done that! Have you tried restacking your clutches.

Weld it if you dont care about the tires wearing out quickly

Joker12valve 06-08-2008 10:25 PM

I rebuilt the rear end last year and it has worn out already. As for running on the street are they really that bad? I just don't like the it when it locks/unlocks in the snow, rain, etc. As for tire wear i buy used sets all the time, tire stores know me by name and call me when they get a good set in. any ways I don't mind to have a spool parking is already a pain and the truck is slowly truning in to a drag truck anyways

I had one in mine and I thought it would be fine, as I would not have much weight back there, so it wouldn't be that big of deal turning. Turing radius sucked, and the tires didn't just squeal, they would jump as you turned.

My LS went out and welded together, so basically a spool since they werent slipping. I absolutely hated it, and I'm not even talking about tire wear, I could barely turn the corner at my house! It pushed the front end real bad, no way I would drive a spool on the street unless my rearend weighed 500 lbs...

Can't imagine one would be fun on the street in these heavy trucks! I had one in my previous 01 camaro and it wasn't bad at all with big sidewall bias ply tires (wouldn't have wanted to try it with low profile radials).

I don't have a problem with my welded rear. Towed a gooseneck to KY no problems. Get a good set of ladder bars to keep the rear end from hopping, I like it better than my old Detroit Locker that pops, snaps, and bangs!

zstroken 06-09-2008 07:51 AM

I ran the ladder bars, and on sharp turns like in parking lots, while parking, you could see the rear tire jump as you would turn. Plus the turning radius stunk! Everything was a 3 point turn at least. I know some people don't have issues with it, but to me it wasn't worth it.

Haisleys and enterprise engine both have the mini spools.

You might try www.puredieselpower.com as he is a dealer for haisley.

Red stroke, what type of spool do you have? I talked with you down at ts, and after hearing that you had a spool kinda sealed the deal on putting one in my truck. As for Pure diesel power I might give him a call, naw he will be droping his truck off tomarrow, I'll talk to him then.
