EFILive Cummins Update
As posted in the new Cummins section of our forum here is an update for you all
5.9L Update Good news to report for the new year. For those that are following development progress you might know that I am currently in New Zealand working along side Paul finalising the read and reflash process for the 2006+ 5.9L ECM (though I was told today some 2005's might be using this ECM too). Anyway, the good news is we have got the in house beta software to the point of being able to bench read and reflash at least three of our test ECM's without any issues. Including recovery from purposely failed flashes. Some people might be aware of the problem these ECM's have where they will loose the VIN and other important data after they have been programmed. This is actually a bug in the ECM itself, it's not the fault of any handheld programmers, not even Cummins (or Tech Authority seems to have a real solution to fix it either). However, we have come up with a reflash method that will restore the ECM's contents (that is usually lost) to a 100% duplicate of what it was prior to the flash. For the rest of the week we need to test the licensing for the Cummins, try to get the Scantool talking correctly with the ECM and retest many GM controllers because we have made a lot of changes to the firmware and PC software. So if all goes well our beta testers will be tuning some Cummins ECM's by mid to late January. Beta testers, you will get an Email over the next couple of days explaining what is going on with the beta program. 6.7L Update Once the 5.9L ECM product is released and stable we will move on to the 2007+ 6.7L ECM, up to at least the 2009 model before they put the RSA security in the ECM, that will have to follow later. We are hoping to offer stable 6.7L ECM reading with the 5.9L release so customers can start sending in reads from 6.7L trucks. Cheers Cindy |
I'm sure alot of people will be very happy about this.

Good news indeed!

That's good new's, you guy are moving right along with this project!
Patiently waiting.... |
almost afraid to ask about pricing.......

Any idea if you will be able to offer a product for the newer ECM's, like 2010 and newer??

800 tune two, or 800 + 400 license ? and if it is in fact 03- 05 that is odd, covers 305 and 325 hp years........

Hardware is $399, the Cummins manufacturers license is $399, and that ships with 2 VIN licenses to tune 2 Cummins. If you want to tune additional Cummins vehicles addtional licenses are $99. If you wanted to tune a GM vehicle, you'd then pay $399 for the GM license, and then need a VIN license. As for the HP differences between 03-05, that side of things is really irrelevant for us - it's all the ECM and how it's mapped. Take the GM E67 ECM, it's used in vehicles ranging from 2.2L through to 7.0L. It is used in the 6.2L Corvette as well as 2.2/2.4L HHR, as well as some of the hybrids - same ECM just different mapping Cheers Cindy |
Why would a late model (6.7) be out before the one that clearly has much more potential customers (03-05)? Seems like a backwards way to go about it.
|
guess the 6.7 guys are getting the pitty due to all the money they gotta spend just to take carp off the motor so it will run right, then start adding parts for power......

Thanks for the updates.

Cindy,
Thanks for being patient with us. Most of us are more used to referring to our trucks by the number of valves or the injection pump it uses. The fact that the computers communicates in different ways has never been something we've payed much attention to. Who knows next week we may have sigs that read "I have a CAN'd Dodge". Thanks for all of your hard work. Paul |
