California 180 Pump

I’m looking at upgrading from my 160 Pump. Was looking for a 215 because i like the idea of the timing notch, but having trouble. Well i found a good deal on a 912 California Pump. What are the differences on these guys vs the other 49 state 180s? Maybe just different delivery valves and pin timing?

Thanks
Kris

I saw your for sale post. Man, if you would have had this a couple months back; I would have been all over it. lol

A 912 CA pump is probably tuned different in the AFC.
They have the same cam as the '885, '887, '911 and '913 pump.

Send it to Seth, he'll make it sing for you.

Parts wise they are exactly the same as the Federal 180 (885, 911). The only difference is calibration. The AFC is tighter and the low boost fuel setting is less.

I thought that might be the case but never saw in any of my searches where anyone stated that. I think most guys just want to stay away from anything California. lol

I actually ended up picking up an 885 for $500 bucks shipped a couple months ago. Made a huge difference in the truck. That old 160 pump must have had some warped barrels causing super sloppy and late injection. I had them both timed at 23* and with the 160 NEVER had an issue starting, even in 5* weather. My truck is now starting to get grumpy at 40* mornings with this 180 pump.

Will be sending it to Seth in the spring for sure!
