Firepunk Porcupine
After way too many months of testing, I'm happy to announce the release of Firepunk's latest product: Porcupine!
http://i.imgur.com/Y1OuN1L.png A smart box designed for 2009+ Ram trucks wanting to remove a 68RFE transmission and retain full functionality. The Porcupine plugs directly into the truck's OEM harness and your choice of transmission range sensor. All truck functions work including PRDNL display, backup cameras, cruise, etc. Transmission range sensor support: Dodge 48RE - full support, in production Ford 4R100 - beta test complete, production modules estimated 9/15/17. Allison 1000 (LB7, LLY style NSBU) - currently beta testing, production estimated Q4 2017. FAQ: 1: My Porcupine only blinked once when I attached the power, is this normal? A: Yes, the green LED will blink once when power is connected. 2: What power source should the Porcupine be connected? A: A constant, fused, 12-volt power source should be used for the red wire and the black wire should be grounded to bare metal ground. 3. How do I get a Porcupine Frisbee? A: Be a kid. Ask at the Firepunk shop, Firepunk race trailer or any of the Firepunk Anteater trucks on the event circuit (while our supply lasts). https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...46&oe=5A286102 |
Sounds very cool!!!
We need to do a tech article on this! |
Filling in the gaps!
Sounds like a quality product. Now the bigger question... If you've got a 6.7, swap out the 68rfe to a 48re and use Porcupine, can you still use AntEater to tune the 48re? |

Will you need to run an automatic or manual file?

Auto Tune. Yes, you have to read it in auto tuned voice in your head.
Auto Tune that allows full fuel with a trams delete. Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk |
Are porcupines friendly?

Wow....the Electronics division of Firepunk is sure entertaining.

Why not build a 68FRE controller to take some of the guess work out of the current 68FRE? :) I like my 68RFE for normal driving, truck really just has a little bit of tuning, sure would be nice if I new that 500HP wasn't an issue at all.

Anyone know rough cost if I took all my 47re parts, tossed them into a 48re core, and just needed the conversion plate and electronics? 6spd would be nice around town though. |

I really should have someone write me a real tune with EFI now, but it's not my truck and it drives fine for the 68 year old service tech who uses it. Chris |

Kinda curious what would actually happen. They have a decent amount of protection from spikes and and improper hookup. I don't have access to 480 VAC. Can you bring me some?

If you don't know how or can't do it, just say so. LOL No need to make up other excuses. :poke: |
