I've seen the inside of several tranmissions that were behind big HP trucks, you'd be surprised how well the 47re components will hold up. However, there is no dispute, the 48re planets are stronger.

As far as pump, the 48re pump's flow more, due to their bigger displacement 10 lobe pump gear and "ported" vanes with better entrance and exit ramps. I typically see a 10 psi line pressure increase going from a 47re pump to a 48re pump with all else being equal, not huge, but a difference none-the-less.
