Software beta testers needed for 'Anteater'

None of my "kick down" tunes would drop a gear for anything less than %70 TPS.

When I initially started I looked at examples of tunes people had written. Flat flat flat, and that’s the only way I can get the kick down to calm down, by tuning my lines super flat. So I’m guessing you don’t get kick down until 70% because your lines are flat, correct? To me that defeats the purpose of having a standalone trans controller with this much tune ability.

I’ve spent a good deal of time reasoning what the theory of transmission operation with this program. In almost all other aspects it is great the way I’ve tuned it, but no matter what I do to the 2-3 there are issues. It makes me think there needs to be some more refinement on Firepunk’s end.

I will have to go back and look, but the one I was driving was more parabolic in shape

I still can't get mine to not do the 2-3 shuttle shift either. 3 differant servos, a differant valvebody, remote and module. Still does it. Really sucks because it's a kickazz controller and I love it other than that. Makes the truck a pain to drive

For those wondering what I’m doing with my tuning

In that image, the unlock on the 40% and 50% is the same MPH as the 2-3 shift. This will cause stability issues because the controller doesn't allow locked 3-2 downshifts. It will begin the downshift routine, then delay the downshift routine because the unlock routine is occuring.

I'm working on a firmware that has two extra rows in the lookup table for 3-2 and 2-1 downshift MPH vs TPS. There were some issues in testing when I tested a panic stop and it didn't downshift fast enough. That strategy will take some time to implement.

Hey guys, Im having issues with this thing. Ive got a 2015 2500 with a 48re swap. Mods below... Im having issues with the transmission up and downshifting like crazy. at 35 on a small hill it will change gears like 10 times, same thing around 65 or 70. It drives good without a load but with the smallest load on it, it freaks out. Ive already had the controller replaced. Im running a tune that Lavon sent. Ive tried the tv adjusted at 80 90 and 100%. Any suggestions???

Mods: suncoast billet 48re, arp 625 studs, fass fuel system, firepunk efi live tuning with switch, 35" tires, 5" exhaust, egr delete, throttle valve delete, fleece coolant bypass, s&b intake,

Flatten your shift points from left to right and drive it. See if the hunt persists.

Would that have anything to do with anti-hunt speed

If I flatten it, it doesn't do it as bad on flat ground. But, I do a lot of towing through the mountains and when in the mountains it still jumps around. It needs to have the shift points ramped up and down or I run 40lbs of boost all the way up the hills. I end up having to floor it to get past the rough spots.

It's just for diagnostic purpose. It shouldn't be able to hunt on a flat tune.

Keep in mind that the transmission/anteater never knows you have a load on the vehicle. The only input it sees is throttle input, both electronically and via the throttle valve if it's being used.

You will want two distinct tunes, one for loaded and one for unloaded, if that's how you use your vehicle.

If you are on and off the throttle in the mountains, your tune will have to keep in mind that the throttle is ranging greatly, and the tune will need to rely more on vehicle speed for shifting.

I had my 12V tuned so that it rarely used Overdrive on my towing tune.

I ran thousands of miles with and without throttle input while I was beta testing.

I appreciate the help but it started having problems with the controller locking up again today. I think Im taking it out at this point. Anyone want a good deal on a 3 week old anteater?

The remote "locking up" typically is a loose connection. It will light but not respond to input because it isn't transmitting data to the controller.

My controller will lockup but it has no correlation to when the trans does the shuttle shifting. It'll shuttle shift with the controller still responding or frozen. Wish they could get this figured out, this controller is so sweet. But it can be extremely annoying

Mine gets confused and starts jumping all over the place when the controller locks up and doesn't like to get past 35. once you hit 40 or cycle power to it, it will drive fine again. Biggest thing, for me, when the controller locks up is that the overdrive switch wont respond. When in the hills I usually turn it off, especially going down hill to help slow the truck. Sometimes turning the truck off to reset it isn't feasible. Now if the controller is unplugged none of this is a problem but it defeats the purpose of having one... I wish I had more time to mess with it but I drive way too much (around 8k a month) and it could become a safety issue with my application. If it was just a fun daily or race truck only I would not be changing anything.

Did you replace the remote or the control unit? The remote or the wiring near it appears to have a connection problem.

What do you mean by "jumping until 35"?
