I would get the upgraded hydraulics and see if it helps. Without they can be a real pain to get into gear. If the problem persists I'd pull the trans and inspect the pilot bearing as mentioned. The guys at south bend should be able to get you headed in the right direction. You may want to call them this week, I'm not sure how often they check here.
