Coaltrain 2014 Season Videos

Smoke'n in the Mud
Thought I'd posted this up in the Alt Sport section but I hadn't. Here is my 2014 season videos of Coaltrain. You will notice it doesn't have the 96 body anymore, it's now sporting a 46 Power wagon body. Overall season was pretty good. I bumped up a class because I couldn't route the exhaust back past the cab due to the way I had to fit the turbo (flipped around backwards) to clear the hood, fender and support rod. Had lots of trouble with the trans last season, ended up pulling it 3 times and the last time was the charm, tracked it down to several issues, but the main culprit was the pressure relief valve was shot and that caused all the other issue.

Yes, it's definitely a crowd favorite. I've had track owners contact me about going to their races for their fans to see it run. It's the only diesel in the area that mud races.

Here is the build thread for it: http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107272

The truck Facebook page, I usually post the videos and races that I'm going to or other events on it. https://www.facebook.com/CoaltrainPowerWagon?ref=hl

I only change a few things each year so I can see what works and doesn't. Last year was the new body mainly.

This year is a gear change from 3.55's and low range 2:1 to 5.13's and high range 1:1. I've been hitting the governor at about half pit on the fast pits in 3rd gear. This will hopefully fix that issue and load the truck up more or blow the transmission up. Also removed the 4" block and did a shackle reverse kit on it from Dodge Offroad as well as put their extreme track bar on front and moved my front axle another 1" forward. Replaced all 4 calipers as they were all frozen up from 5 years of mud and all the washings. Replaced front wheel bearing assembly. Rewired it with a new switch panel and relays. Changed the battery configuration to a single battery instead of 2. Also repainted the truck with a Basecoat / Clear Coat as I wasn't happy with the single stage I used last year. Didn't hold up well. Transmission and Flexplate shield installed. U joint shields on visible u joints. 2 additional driveshaft loops (1 front and 1 back) to make 2 on each of the longer shafts.

3 weeks till the first race to get mine and my daughter's trucks done. It always seems to be a race down to the wire.
